Head of Regional Field Sales - Spain and Portugal
Location: Barcelona, Spain (office-first, with regular time in the field across Spain and Portugal)
Spain and Portugal are still early in their field sales journey, and this role exists to take them out of incubation and into a strong, self-sustaining growth phase. You'll build and lead the regional management structure from the ground up, shaping how up to six regional managers, their territory managers and self-employed consultants sell SumUp's products to small businesses on the ground. It's a rare chance to design a sales organisation almost from scratch, with a direct line to shaping how SumUp wins two of its most important growth markets in Europe.
What you'll do
Build and lead a founding team of regional managers across Spain and Portugal, setting the standard for how the channel operates
Drive sales execution and revenue growth in line with the regional business plan, while protecting profit margins
Design career trajectories and performance management for a channel built largely on self-employed consultants
Partner with regional managers and territory managers through joint field visits, coaching and regular team touchpoints
Track and act on key sales metrics, including quota attainment, sales cycle length and customer retention, feeding insights back to wider stakeholders
You'll be great for this role if…
Experience leading field sales managers, ideally within merchant services or a comparable in-market sales environment.
Strong track record of building and scaling sales teams from an early or incubation stage.
Comfort working with self-employed consultant models and the unique motivation and retention challenges they bring.
Ability to translate a business plan into clear performance targets and day-to-day sales execution.
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to coach, challenge and align a distributed field team.
