SEO Specialist

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria/Nairobi, Kenya

About the role:

Sun King is growing its country websites across our markets in Africa, and organic search is one of the most cost-effective ways to reach people researching solar products and financing. Our limited SEO work is already delivering results, with strong growth in organic traffic and

rankings. We now want to invest in SEO and bring in a talented specialist to head our SEO strategy and activities.

As SEO Specialist, you will head all SEO activity for Sun King's country websites, from strategy through to implementation. You will turn search demand into website traffic and sales, starting with our Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania websites. You will sit within the Marketing team and work closely with Digital Comms, Product, and Digital Sales.

What you would be expected to do

• SEO strategy: Own the SEO roadmap and keyword strategy for each market, prioritisedby commercial value, as well as increasing accurate search findings by monitoring flagging fake brand listings.
• Content planning: Plan the website content calendar(s), then create and publish search-optimised articles and landing pages. Maintain and refresh existing content so it keeps ranking.
• Translating technical content for online audiences: Work with the Digital Comms and Product teams to develop technical content that is creative, informative and engaging to Sun King’s online audiences.
• Ongoing website improvements: Using data, make suggestions for improving websitefunctionality and work with web developers to execute changes.
• Technical SEO: Run regular site audits and monitor sites continuously. Proactively fixissues that arise.
• Backlinks and building domain authority: Spearhead backlink-building activity, engaging media, partners and other relevant organisations and platforms.
• AI search: Grow Sun King's visibility in AI-generated search results.
• Campaigns: Build SEO into relevant Marketing campaigns, assisting other offline and online activations and other activities.
• Reporting: Direct reporting on web traffic and on the performance of SEO and our websites, using Google evaluation, Google Search Console and SEMrush (or similar tools).

  Track rankings, traffic and conversions, and report monthly to stakeholders with clear

  recommendations.

• Cross-team insight: Give insights with the wider Marketing and Sales teams, and use their data to find new keyword and content opportunities.
• External agencies: Manage freelance writers, agencies or the external consultant if extra capacity is needed.

You might be a strong candidate if you have

• 6+ years of hands-on SEO experience, ideally across several African markets or websites, including spearheading SEO end to end.
• A proven record of growing organic traffic and conversions, with examples you can give.
• Strong technical SEO skills: site audits, indexation, structured data and Core Web Vitals.
• Experience planning, creating and publishing content, and explaining technical products simply and creatively. Excellent written English.
• Experience building backlinks through digital PR, media engagement and partnerships.
• Very good with reporting on web and SEO performance using Google evaluations (GA4) and Google Search Console.
• Comfortable working with a CMS such as WordPress, and with Web Development teams on technical fixes.
• Experience in, or knowledge of, the solar energy sector across Africa.
• Expertise with SEMrush and Google Evaluations (a big advantage), or similar tools such as Ahrefs.
• Experience in e-commerce, consumer products or financing, and with multi-country websites.
• French language skills an added advantage but not a must.
• Experience optimising for AI search and generative search results.
