CNG Dispenser Operator (Opic, Ogun State)

To safely and efficiently dispense CNG to customers, operate station equipment, and provide excellent customer service while adhering to all safety and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carries out initial safety checks on all admitted vehicles before dispensing commences (inspect tank positioning)
• Safely dispenses CNG into customer vehicles, following correct filling procedures and ensuring proper connection and disconnection of nozzles.
• Conducts routine inspections of the dispenser area, hoses, and nozzles, reporting any leaks, damage, or equipment faults immediately.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area around the dispensers and ensures the dispensers and other accessories are well taken care of.
• Accurately records sales transactions, meter readings, and shift logs, ensuring proper cash or electronic payment handling.
• Enforces station safety rules, including prohibiting smoking or mobile phone use in hazardous areas, and ensure customers follow safety instructions.
• Responds appropriately to emergency situations by activating emergency shutdown systems and following established evacuation or response procedures.
• Provides courteous and helpful service to customers.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bsc/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related courses.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in CNG, LPG or fuel station dispensing, or equivalent forecourt work. Candidates without it may be considered if they complete the full pre-deployment training before starting solo duty.
• Training in CNG safe handling, fire-fighting, first aid and emergency response is required before the operator works unsupervised.
• Working knowledge of CNG dispensing procedures, including connecting and disconnecting nozzles and following the correct filling sequence.
• Ability to carry out pre-dispensing vehicle checks: tank positioning, visible cylinder condition, valid cylinder test or inspection labels and fittings, with the confidence to refuse any vehicle that does not meet station requirements.
• Understanding of hazardous-area rules, including the ban on smoking, open flames and mobile phone use, and the ability to enforce them with customers.
• Practical knowledge of the emergency shutdown system, and of evacuation and response procedures.
• Ability to inspect dispenser hoses, nozzles and the dispensing area, and to report leaks, damage or faults immediately.
• Basic numeracy, with accurate recording of meter readings, sales transactions and shift logs, and correct handling of cash and electronic payments.
• Courteous, professional customer service, including the ability to give safety instructions clearly and firmly.
• Ability to work shifts, including outdoors, for extended periods.
