Job Summary

Superior Skilled Trades is partnering with a client seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Project Manager to oversee commercial, government, and industrial low-voltage projects from kickoff through completion. This leadership-focused role is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, resources, customer relationships, and field teams while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in structured cabling and low-voltage systems, proven project management experience, and the ability to develop teams, manage project financials, and maintain strong customer relationships. This position combines technical expertise with operational and financial accountability and is not primarily a hands-on installation role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple structured cabling and low-voltage projects from planning and kickoff through installation, testing, final acceptance, and closeout.

  • Develop project schedules, labor plans, material requirements, milestones, and installation strategies.

  • Coordinate field supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, and other trades to maintain schedules and workflow.

  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to address schedule, cost, scope, and quality concerns.

  • Maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, progress reports, test results, punch lists, and closeout packages.

  • Lead, coach, and hold field supervisors, lead technicians, installers, and apprentices accountable for performance, safety, productivity, and quality.

  • Manage project budgets, labor utilization, material costs, forecasts, billing milestones, and gross margins.

  • Partner with sales and estimating teams to validate project scope, labor assumptions, material costs, subcontractor pricing, schedules, and risks before proposals are submitted.

  • Identify and document scope changes, prepare change orders, and secure approval before additional work is performed.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Lead project kickoff, coordination, progress, and closeout meetings while maintaining clear communication and resolving issues professionally.

  • Ensure installations meet project specifications, applicable BICSI/TIA and NEC requirements, company quality standards, and safety practices.

  • Provide technical oversight for copper and fiber systems, pathways, MDF/IDF buildouts, testing, labeling, and troubleshooting.

  • Identify opportunities to improve project planning, reporting, team development, operational efficiency, and project profitability.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or low-voltage systems, including at least 3 years in project management, supervision, or operations leadership.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead field teams, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.

  • Strong working knowledge of copper and fiber cabling, pathways, MDF/IDF environments, testing, labeling, and industry standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret scopes of work, blueprints, specifications, CAD drawings, riser diagrams, RFPs, and construction documents.

  • Working knowledge of estimating, project budgeting, labor forecasting, procurement, change-order management, and project profitability.

  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project management, estimating, or construction-document platforms.

  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass background checks required for government site access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI certification, such as Installer, Technician, or RCDD.

  • PMP certification or comparable project management training.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Experience with healthcare, government, Department of Defense, or other regulated projects.

  • Familiarity with public safety DAS, access control, security systems, audio/video, or outside plant (OSP) fiber.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Measures of Success

  • Delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality requirements.

  • Maintaining accurate forecasts, controlling project scope, and securing timely change-order approvals.

  • Protecting project profitability through effective labor planning, cost management, and gross-margin accountability.

  • Developing strong field teams through coaching, accountability, and training.

  • Building lasting customer relationships through clear communication, reliable execution, and effective issue resolution.

  • Supporting competitive, accurately scoped proposals that balance win rates with project costs and profitability.

Equal Employment Opportunity

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
