Our mission is to deliver geospatial engineering excellence, helping property owners, agents, civil engineering contractors and consultants to plan, design, build, operate and maintain a sustainable, safer, smarter world for everyone.

The Role

As Payroll Administrator, you’ll provide accurate, complete and timely payroll and pension administration across a range of UK payrolls, while supporting the HR team with administration across the employee lifecycle. You’ll work closely with HR, Finance, employees, managers and our external payroll provider, and play a key part in bringing newly acquired businesses into the Group.

Requirements

What you’ll be doing

Payroll and Pensions

  • Supporting the monthly payroll process for at least three payrolls, liaising with our external provider to make sure everything is accurate and submitted on time
  • Processing new starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, expenses, deductions, benefits and other adjustments
  • Administering payrolled benefits in line with HMRC requirements, including checks and reconciliations
  • Reconciling payroll inputs against approved records, independently checking provider outputs, and investigating and correcting any discrepancies
  • Supporting pension administration, including auto-enrolment, opt-outs, postponements and contribution changes
  • Monitoring pension submission and payment deadlines, and preparing a monthly pension reconciliation and exceptions report for HR and Finance
  • Assisting with salary sacrifice schemes and other employee benefits
  • Supporting year-end processes, including P11Ds and P60s, and helping with tax, company car tax and mileage queries
  • Responding to employee payroll queries promptly and professionally

Acquisitions and Payroll Integration

  • Overseeing the payroll integration of newly acquired businesses, including running additional payrolls before they move onto the Group payroll
  • Supporting the move to a single pension provider across the Group and a transition plan for future acquisitions

Systems, Records and Compliance

  • Maintaining accurate employee, payroll and HR records across our systems
  • Keeping a clear audit trail of checks, exceptions, corrective actions and approvals
  • Assisting with regular audits of HR and payroll data
  • Handling confidential information in line with data protection requirements
  • Helping to improve and streamline HR and payroll processes

HR Administration

  • Supporting onboarding and offboarding, including system updates and documentation
  • Assisting with HR reporting, projects, audits and system updates
  • Supporting the HR team with employee queries and general administration

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in an administration, HR or finance role
  • A good understanding of payroll processes
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Experience using HR, payroll or other business systems
  • Confident with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a wider team, resolving issues or escalating them appropriately

Desirable

  • Experience working with an external payroll provider
  • A basic understanding of UK employment legislation and HR administration
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • CIPD, payroll or other relevant qualification, or a willingness to work towards one

About you

You’re reliable, methodical and proactive, someone who takes ownership and consistently meets deadlines. You’re approachable and professional with colleagues at every level, practical and solution-focused, and keen to keep learning across payroll and HR.

Benefits

  • Permanent position with a growing, market-leading business
  • Flexible working: full time (9.00am - 5.30pm) or part time from 3 days per week
  • Personal and professional development, with the opportunity to work towards a CIPD or payroll qualification
