Symbotic is an American warehouse automation company founded in 2007 that builds robotic systems for storing and retrieving cases in distribution centres. Its fleets of autonomous mobile robots move at speed through dense high-bay structures without the fixed conveyor lines conventional automation requires, which lets a warehouse hold far more inventory in the same footprint. Headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts and listed on Nasdaq, it derives the large majority of its revenue from Walmart, which is both its founding customer and its largest shareholder alongside SoftBank through their GreenBox joint venture.

Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system - reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

Symbotic is seeking for a Team Lead, Commissioning to join our Commissioning Services team within our Commissioning Services organization. Your job will be to lead the on-site team responsible for validating, activating, and transitioning Symbotic’s robotic automation systems into operational readiness at customer distribution centers.

You will serve as the primary technical and operational leader during commissioning, providing daily direction, coordinating cross-functional activities, resolving system-level issues, and helping ensure site milestones are achieved safely, on time, and within scope. This is a remote, field-based position supporting customer installation sites in Mexico.

What we do

The Commissioning Services team brings Symbotic’s advanced robotic automation systems online at customer distribution centers. The team works across installation, engineering, site operations, and customer organizations to test and validate system functionality, optimize performance, resolve startup issues, and prepare each system for operational use.

What you'll do

  • Lead the on-site commissioning team responsible for validating and activating robotic automation systems at customer facilities.
  • Serve as the primary technical and operational point of contact throughout the commissioning phase.
  • Coordinate with installation, engineering, site operations, and customer teams to support system handoff, testing, validation, and operational readiness.
  • Plan daily commissioning activities, manage team schedules, allocate resources, track performance metrics, and report progress to project stakeholders.
  • Lead daily operational stand-up meetings and participate in broader site leadership meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to commissioning specialists and other site team members.
  • Troubleshoot system startup and validation issues while supporting continuous improvements in commissioning processes, procedures, safety, and system performance.

What you'll need

  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience and 3 years of total work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience commissioning highly automated industrial, manufacturing, material-handling, or warehouse systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, or Siemens.
  • Experience with industrial robotics, including platforms such as ABB or Fanuc, and industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP or Profinet.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagnose complex automation or system-level issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and collaborate across engineering, installation, operations, project, and customer groups in fast-paced deployment environments.

Our Environment

  • Up to 75% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client locations and company HQ.
  • Employees may be required to use a personal credit card for business travel expenses, which are reimbursed based on the program guidelines. Eligible employees may receive a corporate credit card based on role and travel requirements, but a personal credit card may be needed during onboarding until the corporate card is issued.
