Symbotic is an American warehouse automation company founded in 2007 that builds robotic systems for storing and retrieving cases in distribution centres. Its fleets of autonomous mobile robots move at speed through dense high-bay structures without the fixed conveyor lines conventional automation requires, which lets a warehouse hold far more inventory in the same footprint. Headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts and listed on Nasdaq, it derives the large majority of its revenue from Walmart, which is both its founding customer and its largest shareholder alongside SoftBank through their GreenBox joint venture.
