Senior PostgreSQL Site Reliability Engineer

As a Senior PostgreSQL Site Reliability Engineer, you will lead the reliability, availability, and scalability of critical database platforms. You will apply advanced software engineering techniques and automation to ensure system resilience while serving as a subject matter expert for complex database environments. This role involves driving technical strategy, mentoring specialists, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
• Analyze and resolve system outages while implementing measures to prevent future recurrences.
• Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline operational processes and improve system resilience.
• Optimize system performance and resource usage by identifying bottlenecks and implementing tuning best practices.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate reliability and scalability standards into the software development lifecycle.
• Define technical strategy, manage resources, and provide recommendations for organizational change.
• Lead and mentor technical specialists, guiding them through complex assignments and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Manage and mitigate risks through assessment to support the organization's control and governance agenda.

Requirements

• 14-25 years of professional experience in database administration and SRE practices.
• Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL, with additional experience in Oracle or MS-SQL.
• Proven track record of implementing SRE practices and DevOps automation in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in SQL query optimization, database performance tuning, and enterprise-scale database migration strategies.
• Strong proficiency in telemetry, monitoring, and observability tooling such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container patterns, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Advanced scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and configuration management experience with Ansible or Chef.
• Experience working within the financial domain and familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive strategic technical direction.
