You Are

Join our Customer Excellence team as a Technical Support Engineer I supporting customers in Japan who use our structural simulation products. Based in India, you will work closely with the Japan support team to assist with technical inquiries related to customers’ real-world engineering simulation projects and the integration of our software into their design workflows. Depending on the case complexity, you will either support investigations with the Japan team or communicate directly with customers under guidance from experienced engineers.

This is an entry-level or early-career position designed for an engineer who has a sound foundation in structural mechanics and finite element analysis, an interest in customer-facing technical work, and a strong willingness to learn. You will develop your technical and customer support capabilities through collaboration with senior engineers and subject matter experts.

You will use your engineering knowledge, available technical resources, and AI-based platforms to diagnose issues, identify solutions, document technical knowledge, and help customers use our products successfully.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide first- or second line technical support for structural simulation products to customers in Japan and to members of the Japan support team.
  • Work with the Japan support team to understand customer questions, reproduce reported issues, collect relevant technical information, and investigate potential solutions.
  • Depending on the case and your level of technical readiness, communicate directly with customers and manage technical support cases from initial inquiry through resolution.
  • Apply fundamental knowledge of structural mechanics, finite element analysis, numerical methods, and simulation techniques to diagnose customer issues.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders in English and, where applicable, Japanese - Fluent speaking, reading, and writing skills are a strong advantage but are not mandatory.
  • Recognize when a technical issue requires deeper expertise and escalate it promptly to a senior engineer or subject matter expert, providing a clear summary of the issue, investigation performed, and findings.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, developers, product specialists, and other support teams to resolve customer issues.
  • Learn and apply established troubleshooting processes, simulation best practices, and customer support procedures.
  • Create and update technical documentation, troubleshooting notes, frequently asked questions, and knowledge-base content for customers and internal teams.
  • Perform data manipulation, preparation, validation, and analysis tasks as required to support technical investigations, knowledge development, and customer support operations.
  • Submit product improvement suggestions and defect reports when appropriate, following established processes and with guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist with verification of product fixes and application testing of new product releases, as assigned.
  • Use available resources, including AI-based support platforms, responsibly and effectively to complement engineering analysis and improve support quality.
  • Continuously develop technical expertise in one or more structural simulation areas.
  • Build an understanding of Japanese customers’ engineering workflows, business expectations, and communication requirements.
  • Contribute to high customer satisfaction through responsiveness, professionalism, teamwork, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Participate in other team and company initiatives as needed.
  • Remain flexible and open to new responsibilities based on business and customer needs.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Sound academic or practical knowledge of structural mechanics and finite element analysis.
  • Basic understanding of numerical simulation methods and the ability to interpret engineering results.
  • Demonstrated logical problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate technical issues systematically.
  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in India, Japan, and other global locations.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance or escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset, professional conduct, and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Engineering curiosity and a strong commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to work effectively across different cultures, locations, and time zones.
  • Willingness to work hours that provide reasonable coverage and collaboration with the Japan support team, subject to applicable company policies and local employment requirements.

Who You Are

  • Up to two years of experience using structural simulation, finite element analysis, or related engineering software. Relevant university research, academic projects, internships, or industrial experience may be considered.
  • Experience using commercial or internally developed FEA software for engineering applications.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis workflows, including linear or nonlinear analysis.
  • Experience in a technical support, customer-facing, consulting, application engineering, or engineering services environment.
  • Japanese-language proficiency.
  • Experience communicating or collaborating with customers or colleagues in Japan.
  • Basic knowledge of Python, scripting, automation, SQL, databases, machine learning, or generative AI.
  • Experience participating in an engineering product development or software testing cycle.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, if required.
