About the job

At Synpulse, we believe that technology is a strategic enabler of business transformation. We are looking for a Senior Solution Architect who thrives at the intersection of technology, business, and strategy.

As part of our Synpulse8 team, you will play a key role in designing and delivering innovative technology solutions for our clients across banking and insurance, with a particular focus on reinsurance and our Reinsurance Workbench solutions.

You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, combining strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise and a strong software engineering background. Working closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams, you will translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and future-ready architectures.

You will guide technical teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, contribute to the continuous evolution of our solutions, and help drive technical excellence across projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with clients to understand business goals, identify technology opportunities, and define digital transformation strategies.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performing architectures across Cloud, web, mobile, and backend systems, often in the context of complex enterprise ecosystems.
• Architect modern data platforms and pipelines, and embed AI/ML and GenAI capabilities into end-to-end solutions, treating data and intelligence as first-class architectural concerns.
• Leverage Cloud Native and Cloud Agnostic design principles to create flexible, portable, and resilient architectures that can thrive across multi-cloud environments.
• Use industry-standard modeling approaches like C4Model, ArchiMate, or equivalent to document and communicate system architecture clearly.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical discovery sessions, and proof-of-concepts.
• Act as a hands-on advisor throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and quality expectations.
• Work in agile and multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful solutions at speed.
• Maintain a strong awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends, especially in financial services and fintech.
• Mentor and inspire engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering or solution architecture, including a minimum of 3 years in a lead or senior architect role.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade systems within financial services, banking, wealth management, or insurance.
• Deep understanding of Cloud Native architectures, including containerisation, Kubernetes, service mesh, and serverless technologies, as well as Cloud Agnostic approaches for multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud deployments.
• Strong expertise in modern technology stacks, including event-driven architectures, microservices, APIs, and DevSecOps.
• Solid knowledge of data engineering and data architecture, including data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, and streaming technologies, combined with experience integrating AI/ML into production environments.
• Proficiency with architectural modelling tools and frameworks such as C4 Model, PlantUML, Structurizr, or ArchiMate.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying on-premises and hybrid infrastructure solutions in highly regulated environments.
• Proven ability to design and deliver fixed-price or outcome-based projects while balancing scope, quality, and timelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, combined with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.
• Collaborative mindset, leadership potential, and the ability to coach and mentor others.
• Fluent English is required; German language skills are an advantage.

Additional qualifications that would be an advantage:

• Experience in reinsurance, particularly underwriting processes, reinsurance technology platforms, or workbench solutions.
• Strong domain expertise and hands-on experience in financial services, banking, wealth management, or insurance.
• Previous client-facing consulting experience, ideally within financial services.
• Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event Storming, or similar collaborative design methodologies.
• Experience in platform engineering or developing reusable internal developer platforms.
• Hands-on experience with modern data and AI technologies such as Spark, dbt, Kafka, MLOps, or LLM / GenAI agentic solutions.
• Certifications in cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Active involvement in architecture communities, technical publications, or open-source initiatives.
