About the Role:

A senior communications leadership role responsible for defining and advancing Takeda's enterprise AI-forward and technology communications strategy and shaping how the company's ambitions are understood by employees, investors and external stakeholders and partners. This leader serves as the architect of Takeda's enterprise technology narrative and communications approach, ensuring clear, consistent and compelling communications that strengthen understanding of how technology and AI enable business performance, accelerate innovation, support patients and enable Takeda's two-horizon growth strategy and long-term ambition.

Working in close partnership with and supporting the Chief Digital & Technology Officer (CDTO), Data, Digital & Technology (DD&T) Leadership Team, Communications & Governance, Public Affairs, Human Resources and business leaders around the world, this role will establish the strategic alignment and unified approaches needed to effectively communicate Takeda's digital transformation journey and leadership in the rapidly evolving technology and AI landscape. Through strategic storytelling, employee engagement, proactive thought leadership and external visibility, this leader will help position Takeda as a leading digital biopharmaceutical company while also strengthening employees understanding and adoption of DD&T skills and ways of working across the enterprise.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the Head of Enterprise Technology Communications serves as the strategic communications partner to the CDTO, sits on the DD&T Leadership Team and leads a team of communications professionals responsible for DD&T communications globally.

How You Contribute:

Enterprise Technology Strategy

• Lead Takeda's enterprise technology communications strategy, ensuring a coordinated and enterprise-wide approach to communicating DD&T contributions to business performance and patient impact.

• Define and continuously evolve Takeda's enterprise technology narrative and DD&T organizational narrative, ensuring consistency across executive communications, employee engagement initiatives, external visibility opportunities, thought leadership platforms and stakeholder communications.

• Build, maintain and champion compelling messaging and proof points across technology, digital transformation, data, cybersecurity and AI topics, incorporating stakeholder feedback, emerging trends and innovative and measurable communications approaches.

• Serve as the strategic hub and communications advisor for DD&T-related communications, aligning business units, communications teams and leaders around a unified approach that strengthens consistency, impact and engagement.

Executive Communications and Strategic Counsel

• Serve as the senior communications advisor and thought partner to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer, developing proactive executive communications strategies that strengthen connection and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.

• Lead CDTO executive communications, spanning employee engagement, enterprise-wide communications, thought leadership, speaking opportunities, earned media engagements and owned content.

• Provide strategic counsel to the CDTO and DD&T Leadership Team on messaging, stakeholder perceptions and external reputation, change communications and employee engagement.

• Partner with DD&T leaders to ensure their internal and external communications effectively support business priorities and transformation objectives and are aligned to the Takeda brand and unified communications approaches.

External Visibility and Technology Reputation

• Lead Takeda's enterprise technology external communications strategy, elevating the company's profile and credibility across the healthcare, biopharmaceutical, technology and AI communities.

• Identify and maximize opportunities that showcase Takeda's leadership in digital transformation, data and AI innovation and technology-enabled healthcare.

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key media to strengthen understanding of Takeda's digital strategy, innovation agenda and technology leadership.

• Act as a spokesperson as needed and ensure executive media readiness and thought leadership preparedness across DD&T leadership.

• Anticipate and prepare for technology-related reputation opportunities and risks, ensuring Takeda is prepared to navigate emerging issues in the technology, cybersecurity, data and AI environment.

Employee Engagement

• Set the strategy for employee engagement and storytelling within the DD&T organization and across Takeda, strengthening understanding, adoption and advocacy for technology and AI priorities and ongoing transformation.

• Ensure that DD&T priorities and employee engagement initiatives are pulled through across all relevant locations and teams, including colleagues in Innovation Capability Centers globally by working with local site communicators.

• Lead orchestration of DD&T communications from teams within the DD&T organization, ensuring alignment with Takeda brand, enterprise priorities and common ways of communicating and integrated with the change management capabilities and priorities

Enterprise Leadership

• Lead and develop the Enterprise Technology Communications team, fostering a high-performing global team and community of communications professionals that drives measurable impact through strategic thinking, innovation, enterprise orientation and operational excellence.

• Serve as a member of the Corporate Communications leadership team (in addition to DD&T Leadership Team), contributing to enterprise communications strategy, organizational effectiveness, talent development, operational excellence and long-term capability building.

• Partner closely with communications leaders across functions, business units and geographies to ensure alignment and consistency of technology-related messaging, governance, processes and communications best practices.

• Champion Takeda's values, culture ambition, digital transformation vision and ways of working through leadership, communications strategies and role modeling.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field.

• 15 years of communications, technology communications, digital transformation communications or related experience, is necessary, preferably within the healthcare technology space.

• Demonstrated experience developing communications strategies for enterprise technology, digital transformation, AI, data, cybersecurity or innovation initiatives across large, complex, global organizations.

• Strong experience counseling and influencing senior executives, including CDTO (or similar roles) and their leadership teams.

• Proven success leading and developing high-performing, geographically distributed communications teams and building organizational capability across matrixed environments.

• Deep understanding of enterprise technology, digital transformation, AI and innovation trends, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling and relevant narratives for diverse audiences.

• Experience developing and executing media relations and thought leadership strategies in the healthcare, biopharmaceutical, technology and AI sectors. Experience leading technology communications is strongly preferred.

• Established relationships with healthcare innovation-focused media outlets and reporters and demonstrated success driving high-impact external visibility programs.

• Extensive experience establishing enterprise communications strategies, governance frameworks, operating models and measurement approaches that drive organizational outcomes.

• Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity, influence without direct authority, and align diverse stakeholders across functions, regions and cultures.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technology, digital, cybersecurity and AI topics into clear, compelling narratives and engagement strategies.

• Exceptionally high degree of integrity, professionalism, judgment, and discretion, with experience managing sensitive business, cybersecurity and organizational matters.

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
