The Opportunity:
As a Principal Business Analyst, you will own the reporting, analytics, and AI capability domain within the CAPTIVATE ecosystem - translating complex portfolio management needs into well-defined requirements that drive the progressive development of reporting and analytics capabilities in support of portfolio management.
Working closely with the Product Manager, Data and Integration Manager, and technical delivery teams, you will lead the end-to-end requirements lifecycle for analytics and AI initiatives - from stakeholder engagement and requirements definition through delivery oversight and formal closure. You will define data product requirements, maintain the reporting and analytics requirements roadmap, and provide functional oversight to BI and AI development teams to ensure business needs are accurately represented in what gets built.
In a secondary capacity, you will apply the same rigor to a defined portfolio of enterprise applications, partnering with the Product Manager to ensure requests are properly scoped and progressed through delivery.
This is a high-complexity, high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of business strategy, data, and emerging AI capabilities - requiring both the depth to engage at a technical level and the credibility to influence senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary functional interface with business stakeholders to collect business and functional requirements for reporting, analytics, and AI capabilities in support of the portfolio management capabilities delivered by the CAPTIVATE/Planisware ecosystem and, in a secondary capacity, for a defined portfolio of enterprise applications - partnering with the Product Manager to ensure requests are clearly understood, properly scoped, and progressed through delivery.
- Own the review of reporting issues and analytics requirements, assessing functional dependencies and identifying scope prior to governance approval.
- Own the full closure sequence for all gated request types, including functional testing against delivery requirements, coordination of end-user validation, formal sign-off, and communication to the requestor.
- Co-present enhancement requests to the Product Backlog Review Council alongside the requestor, providing functional clarity and well-defined scope to support prioritization decisions.
- Partner with the Data and Integration Manager on data foundation requirements and pipeline dependencies, and provide functional oversight to BI, reporting, and AI development teams to ensure business and functional requirements are accurately represented in the design and delivery of reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Define data product requirements in partnership with the Data and Integration Manager - specifying what data is needed, in what form, and to what standard - to enable reporting and AI capability development.
- Define and maintain the reporting and analytics requirements roadmap, translating business intelligence and AI needs into prioritized requirements and overseeing their delivery in partnership with technical teams.
- Define requirements for and oversee the delivery of portfolio dashboards, resource and financial reporting views, 360 portfolio view, and scenario planning analysis - ensuring they meet the needs of capability owners and senior stakeholders.
- Operate effectively within a post-go-live or run-state support environment.
- Demonstrate familiarity with tiered support models and ITSM concepts, including support queues and SLAs.
- Translate business reporting and analytics requirements into delivery-ready user stories for technical teams.
- Gather, analyze, and document reporting and analytics requirements through discussions, workshops, and refinement sessions - identifying root problems and translating them into prioritized development needs.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure proposed solutions meet their needs and expectations.
- Work independently on high-complexity analytics and AI tasks, delivering outputs aligned with company standards.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrating strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information - including data findings and AI outputs - clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Influence and persuade stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must-have requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
- 12+ years of experience in Business Analysis.
- 5+ years of experience in a Lean/Agile development environment, with working knowledge of tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong end-to-end business analysis skills: gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and system requirements across multiple systems, including data flows and system interactions.
- Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with BI and visualization platforms such as Tableau and Power BI; familiarity with AI/ML concepts as applied to enterprise data - experience with Salesforce-based applications and Planisware or comparable PPM tools (e.g., Clarity, Workfront, SAP PS) is an advantage.
- Highly organized, with the ability to break down complex problems and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - able to influence across all levels of the organization and convey complex information clearly in writing and verbally.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-have requirements
- Experience in Life Sciences, Healthcare, or the pharmaceutical industry (strongly preferred)
- Certification in business analysis (e.g., CBAP, BCS, or similar)
- Familiarity or working knowledge of tools such as Jira and QTest
