Production Operative

Imagine joining a new manufacturing operation at the very beginning, learning specialist techniques in Finland and helping build the team that will shape its future. As a Production Operative at TALO, you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical skills, work with modern manufacturing technology and play a part in producing the next generation of energy-efficient homes.

We're recruiting eight people to join our growing Wolverhampton team, with the chance to learn directly from our established Finnish manufacturing operation before bringing that knowledge back to the UK.

At TALO, we're changing the way homes are built. We combine over four decades of Nordic manufacturing expertise with precision engineering and advanced timber technology to produce highly energy-efficient homes. As our UK operation grows, you'll be part of the team helping turn that experience into a successful manufacturing facility in Wolverhampton.

Your responsibilities as a Production Operative

• Set up, operate and adjust manufacturing machinery to keep production running efficiently.
• Monitor equipment, resolve minor stoppages and carry out basic mechanical fault-finding.
• Use hand and power tools to assemble and finish precision-manufactured timber components.
• Read technical drawings and work instructions to ensure products meet the required specifications.
• Complete quality checks and visual inspections to maintain consistent manufacturing standards.
• Record production information accurately and support improvements to quality and efficiency.

What we're looking for in a Production Operative

• Previous experience operating and adjusting machinery within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Good mechanical knowledge, including basic fault-finding and machinery adjustments.
• Experience using hand and power tools, alongside carrying out quality inspections.
• Ability to read technical drawings, follow manufacturing instructions and work to production targets.
• GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths. Experience with CNC machinery, metalworking or lean manufacturing would be an advantage.

Experience in timber manufacturing isn't essential. We're interested in people who already understand a manufacturing environment and want to apply their skills to something different.
