Our client is a leading international provider of power and energy technologies, delivering solutions to customers across the utility, industrial and infrastructure sectors worldwide. The company is looking for a Senior Application Engineer to join its Taipei team, where you will act as a key technical interface between customers, sales teams and overseas transformer factories, supporting power transformer projects across various industries in Taiwan.
What you will do
- Work alongside the sales team during customer engagements, addressing technical enquiries, explaining product applications and identifying suitable transformer solutions.
- Evaluate customer requirements, electrical system characteristics, site conditions and project-specific limitations to determine appropriate transformer configurations and technical options.
- Provide application guidance on transformer selection, considering factors such as electrical ratings, grid integration, load characteristics, system redundancy, fault conditions, protection schemes and long-term operating performance.
- Research and assess transformer requirements across Taiwan’s utility, semiconductor, data center, industrial, renewable energy and infrastructure markets, consolidating findings into structured market and application references.
- Coordinate technical discussions between local customers and international manufacturing facilities, ensuring market requirements are clearly communicated and evaluating design feasibility, alternative configurations, commercial impact and potential project risks.
- Engage with customers during the early stages of project development to help shape technical specifications, while identifying opportunities for localized designs and product configurations that address Taiwan market needs.
- Strengthen internal technical capabilities by delivering product and application training to sales, project and service teams, and preparing technical guidelines, comparison tools and supporting materials for customer discussions.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in the transformer, power systems, substation, EPC, utility, engineering consultancy or related electrical sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of power transformer applications, including electrical ratings, system integration, protection requirements, installation conditions and operational performance.
- Familiarity with Taiwan’s electricity infrastructure, utility practices, industrial power systems or technical specifications used by major local customers is highly preferred.
- Previous experience engaging with transformer manufacturers, engineering contractors, consultants, EPC companies or end customers.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering specifications, assess technical challenges and develop feasible application recommendations.
- Good English communication skills for technical discussions and coordination with overseas manufacturing sites and international teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a consultative approach, commercial awareness, structured thinking and the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
