Legal Counsel, Manufacturing/Plant

Our client is an established international organisation seeking a Legal Counsel to support its Malaysia operations. This is a broad in-house role providing commercial, regulatory and general legal advice to local stakeholders, while working closely with a regional Legal and Compliance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including sales, supply, procurement, services, logistics and project-related contracts.
• Provide day-to-day legal and regulatory advice to the business on commercial matters, disputes, governance, compliance and operational issues.
• Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks, including supporting internal policies, training and governance initiatives.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across operations, procurement, finance, HR, projects and other corporate functions.
• Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and manage external counsel where specialist support is required.

Requirements

• Malaysia-qualified lawyer with approximately 5+ years’ PQE gained in private practice and/or an in-house environment.
• Strong general corporate and commercial experience, with exposure to regulatory matters and/or dispute resolution advantageous.
• Experience supporting a complex operational or industrial business environment would be advantageous.
• Strong drafting, analytical and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
• Fluent English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional language capabilities would be advantageous. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Johor, with flexibility to travel when required.
