TD Bank Group is a Canadian bank founded in 1855 whose modern form dates from the 1955 merger of the Bank of Toronto and the Dominion Bank. It runs one of the two largest retail banking networks in Canada, an unusually large American retail franchise built along the east coast under the TD Bank brand, a wholesale bank through TD Securities and a direct investing business, and it held a substantial stake in Charles Schwab for several years. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto and New York, it has spent recent years rebuilding its anti-money-laundering controls after United States regulatory penalties.

Job Description:

Department Overview

The Retail Risk Management Credit Cards & Personal Lending Strategy team develops and manages credit strategies that drive customer and business outcomes. We combine analytics, strategic thinking, and stakeholder influence to balance growth, profitability, customer experience, and risk appetite. We don't stop at generating insights. We ask "So what?" and "Why should we care?", then turn those insights into actions that shape portfolio performance. Along the way, we leverage modern analytics and AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, accelerate insights, and focus on higher-value strategic decisions.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Credit Strategy, you'll support the MBNA and other credit card portfolios by combining analytics, strategic thinking, and stakeholder collaboration to solve business problems and drive meaningful outcomes. You'll work across Product, Fraud, Technology, Operations, and Model Development to drive business growth.

Around here, finding an insight is just the start. The real value comes from answering "So what?" and "Why should we care?", building support for an idea, and helping turn it into action.

Because finding an insight is interesting. Turning it into a business outcome is where the fun starts.

What You'll Do

  • Own a portfolio, strategy, or business problem area end-to-end. Become the trusted expert, understand where it's headed, and challenge how it's done today.
  • Use data, analytics, and business insight to identify opportunities, improve credit strategies and customer outcomes, and answer not just "what happened?", but "so what?" and "what should we do about it?"
  • Design, implement, monitor, and optimize credit strategies that balance growth, customer experience, profitability, and risk appetite.
  • Influence decisions, build stakeholder support, and drive alignment across Product, Model Development, Fraud, Technology, Operations, and senior leadership.
  • Challenge assumptions, ask tough questions, and provide effective challenge on portfolio performance, emerging risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling recommendations that drive action and influence executive decision-making.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging opportunities and risks, evaluate new models, tools, and capabilities, and recommend actions to improve credit decisioning and portfolio outcomes.
  • Leverage modern analytics and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accelerate insights, and support strategic decision-making.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

  • You have an ownership mindset. You treat your portfolio like it's your business, not just your assignment, and take pride in making it stronger over time.
  • You're naturally curious and aren't afraid to ask "why?" more than once.
  • You enjoy connecting dots across data, business objectives, stakeholder perspectives, and customer outcomes.
  • You're equally comfortable working with data, senior leaders, and skeptical stakeholders.
  • You don't stop when you've found an interesting insight. You keep going until you've figured out what should happen next.
  • You enjoy building relationships, influencing decisions, and bringing people together around a common goal.
  • You can simplify complex analysis into a clear, compelling story that drives action and helps turn ideas into reality.

What You'll Bring

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Experience using data and analytics to solve business problems and influence strategic decisions.
  • Ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations, not just findings.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex data sets.
  • Exposure to Python, Databricks, Azure, predictive models, machine learning, credit decisioning tools, or AI-enabled productivity tools is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and a healthy skepticism of results that seem "too good to be true."

Business & Risk Acumen

  • Experience in Credit Risk, Retail Banking, Financial Services, or a related analytical field.
  • Understanding of consumer lending, credit decisioning, portfolio management, or risk strategies is an asset.
  • Ability to balance customer, business, and risk considerations when making recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

Communication & Leadership

  • Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build alignment across diverse teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior audiences.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and tell a compelling story with data.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and constructive debate.

Education & Experience

We're more interested in your ability to solve problems, influence decisions, and drive outcomes than a specific academic path. Successful candidates will typically have:

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience in Credit Risk, Retail Banking, Financial Services, Strategy, Analytics, Consulting, or a related field.
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions and recommendations.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and delivering cross-functional initiatives.
  • Graduate degree or experience with predictive analytics, machine learning, or credit decisioning tools is considered an asset.
