TD Bank Group is a Canadian bank founded in 1855 whose modern form dates from the 1955 merger of the Bank of Toronto and the Dominion Bank. It runs one of the two largest retail banking networks in Canada, an unusually large American retail franchise built along the east coast under the TD Bank brand, a wholesale bank through TD Securities and a direct investing business, and it held a substantial stake in Charles Schwab for several years. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto and New York, it has spent recent years rebuilding its anti-money-laundering controls after United States regulatory penalties.

The Senior Project Manager will support the successful delivery of TD’s Payments Modernization portfolio, with a primary focus on Modern High Value Payments and related cross-border wires modernization initiatives. This role will lead complex delivery planning, integrated execution, governance coordination, RAID management, stakeholder engagement, vendor coordination, and executive-ready reporting across business, operations, technology, risk, compliance, and vendor partners.

The role requires a strong delivery leader who can operate in a highly matrixed environment, manage multiple releases and dependencies, support TD delivery governance expectations, and help drive disciplined execution across program workstreams. The successful candidate will bring strong project management experience, payments domain knowledge, delivery lifecycle discipline, and the ability to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Customer / Business Delivery

  • Lead planning and execution for assigned Payments Modernization releases, workstreams, and delivery activities, ensuring scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, and decisions are actively managed.
  • Partner with business, operations, technology, product, risk, compliance, change management, finance, and vendor stakeholders to align delivery expectations and maintain clear ownership across workstreams.
  • Support Modern High Value Payments delivery activities, including release planning, integration readiness, operational readiness, vendor deliverables, testing coordination, implementation planning, and transition-to-BAU considerations.
  • Translate complex delivery activity into clear, actionable plans, status updates, escalation materials, and decision-ready recommendations for leadership and governance forums.

Shareholder / Governance, Risk, and Controls

  • Maintain delivery discipline in alignment with TD governance expectations, including project delivery lifecycle checkpoints, required artifacts, approvals, RAID management, financial tracking inputs, and escalation protocols.
  • Identify, document, and actively manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, decisions, and change impacts; ensure mitigation plans, owners, due dates, and escalation paths are clearly defined.
  • Support regulatory, operational, technology, and compliance considerations associated with high-value payments modernization, ISO 20022 enablement, cross-border wires, vendor integration, and platform transition activities.
  • Prepare materials for working groups, leadership reviews, steering forums, and executive updates, ensuring content is concise, fact-based, action-oriented, and aligned to TD standards.

Employee / Team

  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership and model TD’s shared commitments by fostering collaboration, transparency, accountability, and respectful challenge across cross-functional teams.
  • Drive follow-through by ensuring owners, due dates, actions, risks, and decisions are clearly captured, communicated, and tracked to closure.
  • Support a positive delivery culture focused on execution discipline, continuous improvement, proactive issue resolution, and strong stakeholder partnership.
  • Coach and guide project team members, analysts, scrum masters, and delivery partners as needed to strengthen planning quality, reporting discipline, and governance readiness.

Depth and Scope

  • Leads medium-to-high complexity initiatives or workstreams within a large enterprise payments modernization program.
  • Operates across multiple delivery organizations, jurisdictions, stakeholders, vendors, and impacted platforms.
  • Requires strong judgment to manage ambiguity, escalate appropriately, and balance delivery speed with governance, risk, control, and operational readiness expectations.
  • Works independently with limited direction while ensuring alignment with the Delivery Lead, Technology Owner, Business Owner, Product partners, and senior leadership.
  • Regularly interfaces with senior stakeholders and contributes to governance materials, executive updates, release readiness discussions, and delivery decisioning.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive project management or delivery leadership experience, preferably within banking, financial services, payments, technology delivery, or large-scale transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects across business, operations, technology, vendor, risk, compliance, finance, testing, change management, and governance stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of project management disciplines, including integrated planning, milestone management, dependency tracking, RAID management, financial awareness, governance reporting, and executive communications.
  • Experience working within Agile, waterfall, or hybrid delivery models, including coordination across scrum teams, delivery pods, release plans, and cross-functional working groups.
  • Strong understanding of payments, wires, high-value payments, ISO 20022, SWIFT, Fedwire, payment operations, or payment processing workflows preferred.
  • Experience with vendor deliverables, SOW coordination, delivery checkpoints, requirements/design documentation, testing readiness, implementation planning, and production readiness preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise leadership updates, meeting materials, action summaries, escalation notes, and decision-ready recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain delivery momentum, and drive closure across multiple owners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project planning tools, collaboration platforms, JIRA/Confluence, Clarity, and reporting materials used to manage enterprise delivery execution.

Education and Certifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile, Scrum Master, SAFe, or related delivery certification considered an asset.

  • Execute with discipline, urgency, and accountability while maintaining strong risk and control awareness.
  • Simplify complex delivery information into clear messages, action plans, and decision materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Do the right thing by owning risks, raising issues early, and ensuring decisions are transparent and well documented.
