About the role
Team Global Express is seeking an experienced Dispatch Officer to join our Courier Operations team based in Port Melbourne, VIC.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity where you will play a key role in coordinating our fleet, allocating pickups and deliveries and supporting drivers to ensure we provide an efficient and reliable service to our customers.
You will work in a fast-paced transport environment where strong communication, organisation and the ability to make quick decisions are essential.
What you’ll do
Coordinate and allocate daily pickup and delivery runs across the fleet
Allocate jobs to drivers using our computerised dispatch system
Plan and route deliveries to ensure efficient and timely service
Monitor drivers and ensure permanent runs and backup coverage are in place
Communicate with drivers regarding run requirements, changes and priorities
Keep customers and internal teams updated on delays or operational issues
Accept and book jobs, ensuring all information is entered accurately
Maintain driver hours, waiting times and job adjustments
Assist with vehicle requirements and fleet capacity planning
Prepare safe driving plans for regional deliveries when required
Complete transport compliance and safety-related tasks
Build strong working relationships with drivers, contractors, customers and internal teams
What you’ll bring
Previous experience in dispatch, fleet allocation, transport coordination or a similar transport operations role
Experience allocating vehicles and coordinating drivers
Good understanding of transport operations and Chain of Responsibility requirements
Knowledge of different vehicle types and their capabilities is highly regarded
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Good geographical knowledge of Melbourne and surrounding areas
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to prioritise and make decisions in a busy, time-critical environment
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
A proactive, hands-on approach and ability to work autonomously
Previous transport operations experience is preferred, with a relevant logistics qualification also highly regarded.
