Job Summary

SAP BASIS Senior Consultant (5-8 Years Experience)

Position Summary

The SAP BASIS Senior Consultant is responsible for managing and supporting business-critical SAP landscapes, ensuring system stability, performance, and availability. The role involves executing end-to-end SAP BASIS activities, collaborating with SAP, customer, and internal teams, and driving technical excellence across SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, and Cloud environments.

The consultant is expected to take ownership of complex technical issues, lead critical activities, and mentor junior team members while supporting RISE with SAP landscapes in 24*7 global support model.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP BASIS Administration & Operations

• Manage day-to-day SAP BASIS administration activities across SAP landscapes.
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, health checks, and preventive maintenance.
• Administer SAP ABAP and Java systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• Execute client administration, transport management, user administration, and system housekeeping activities.
• Ensure adherence to operational procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices.

2. Incident & Problem Management

• Handle and resolve critical P1/P2 incidents within SLA timelines.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive measures.
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, work processes, dumps, job failures, memory issues, and connectivity problems.
• Coordinate with SAP, infrastructure, database, and application teams for complex issue resolution.
• Participate in major incident reviews and drive service improvement initiatives.

3. SAP Technical Project Execution

• Support SAP system upgrades activities.
• Perform system refreshes, client copies, system builds, and landscape maintenance activities.
• Participate in technical cutover planning and execution during go live activities.

4. SAP HANA & Database Administration

• Support SAP HANA administration activities, analyse and troubleshoot SAP HANA database-related issues through DBACOCKPIT and SAP system and share recommendations to DB team.
• Monitor database growth and recommend optimization actions.

5. SAP Fiori & Cloud Support

• Support SAP Fiori environments, including Gateway setup, service activation, and application troubleshooting.
• Support SAP systems hosted on cloud platforms.
• Assist in managing hybrid landscapes and cloud connectivity solutions.
• Work with SAP Cloud Connector and cloud-based SAP services where applicable.

6. Technical Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with SAP, customer, infrastructure, and development teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Identify automation opportunities and process improvement initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to knowledge-sharing activities.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5-8 years of hands-on experience in SAP BASIS administration and support.
• Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP HANA Database, and SAP Fiori.
• Experience supporting business-critical production SAP landscapes.
• Expertise in SAP upgrades, system refreshes, client copies, transport management, and system maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills covering performance issues, dumps, job failures, RFC issues, memory utilization, and system availability.
• Good understanding of SAP architecture, including ABAP and Java-based systems.
• Experience with SAP HANA monitoring, performance tuning, and administration.
• Exposure to SAP Cloud environments including.
• Experience managing STMS and transport strategies in complex SAP landscapes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and within global support teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP BASIS, SAP HANA, or SAP S/4HANA certifications.
• Experience with RISE with SAP environments.
• Knowledge of SAP BTP, Solution Manager, and cloud operations.
