Since the company's foundation in 1991, Techland has been consistently reinforcing its position in the industry and in 2000 began to conquer international markets. Initially, their activities were focused on the distribution of software in Poland...

Techland is one of the biggest video game companies in Poland, with over 30 years of experience in the gaming industry. From our studios in Wroclaw and Warsaw, we’ve built an international team of more than 500 talented professionals, all dedicated to pushing the boundaries of game development.

We’re known for creating iconic franchises like Call of Juarez and the zombie genre-defining Dying Light, which has been played by over 45 million players worldwide. With a focus on open-world action, storytelling, and community engagement, we’re committed to delivering unforgettable experiences to our players.

We’re constantly striving to improve, innovate, and take on new challenges. With ambitious plans for the future, we’re looking for passionate people to be part of this exciting journey.

As a Lighting Artist, you will help create breathtaking environments and cutscenes for our players to explore and enjoy. Leveraging both global and local lighting across dynamic day / night cycles, you will set the mood, direct player focus, and craft unforgettable atmospheres that enhance gameplay.

Your daily tasks:

  • Lighting both indoor and outdoor locations in open world games, for a full day and night cycle, in multiple weather conditions.

  • Lighting for both gameplay and real time cutscenes of varying complexity, ensuring proper technical execution for the former and optimal character readability for the latter.

  • Ensuring lighting is optimized across all platforms and adheres to team pipelines and project specifications.

  • Contributing on testing and providing feedback for the continued development of our lighting pipelines and technology.

  • Participating in brainstorming and planning for the lighting of content of any kind.

  • Working with our proprietary editor, C-Engine.

  • Collaborating with the Lighting Team, Lead Lighting Artist and Art Director.

  • Proven experience creating lighting art for at least one shipped game, and demonstrated via a professional portfolio.

  • Experience spanning the entire production lifecycle of a game, with a particular focus on contributing to its launch.

  • Great artistic skills, including a good sense of colour and composition.

  • Passion for games and knowledge of the game industry from the player's perspective (knowledge of games previously released by Techland will be a huge plus).

  • Strong proficiency in finding and analyzing reference materials from various sources, along with a solid capacity to extract and convey ideas clearly.

  • Great teamwork skills and being a reliable team member.

  • Very good level of English (spoken and written).

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with level and environment art.

  • Experience in open world and/or full day and night cycle games.

  • Experience with proprietary game engines.

  • Artistic skills (photography, painting, modeling, etc.).

What we offer:

  • A wide array of benefits: private medical care, life insurance, pro-health campaigns, gifts for different occasions.
  • An outstanding work atmosphere in a highly-skilled team of professionals, with flexible working hours, no dress code, and full support of the dedicated HR Business Partner.
  • Many opportunities for personal development: a dedicated development budget for each employee, extra two paid days for training and CSR, stable career paths, extensive internal and external training, and financing of English and Polish language classes.
  • State-of-the-art offices filled with chillout zones, a fully equipped kitchen, a gym (Wrocław office), and a free car park (Warsaw limited amount of space).
