Network Software Engineer

Job Location :

Location : Bangalore Hybrid

Exp : 4 - 9 years.

Mandatory : Hands-on C/C++ software development, Linux, L2/L3 networking, packet-forwarding/data-plane development, router, switch or network-product development.

At least one relevant protocol : IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, STP, multicast, DHCP, EVPN-VxLAN or SRv6.

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills. For 6 - 9 year candidates, additionally expect : Advanced C/C++ and data structures, pointers, memory and bit manipulation, IPC, synchronisation or multithreading, GDB/core-dump debugging, protocol or feature ownership, systems design or technical leadership, NPU/ASIC exposure preferred.

Role Overview :

We are looking for a skilled C/C++ Network Software Engineer with hands-on experience in Linux-based software development and networking. The role involves developing and debugging packet-forwarding/data-plane software for routers, switches, and other network products.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain high-performance networking software using C/C++ on Linux.

- Work on packet-forwarding and data-plane development for routers, switches, or network products.

- Design, implement, debug, and optimize networking features and protocols.

- Troubleshoot complex software, networking, and system-level issues.

- Work with relevant networking protocols such as IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, STP, Multicast, DHCP, EVPN-VXLAN, or SRv6.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, integrate, and validate networking features.

- Analyze performance, memory, and system-level issues and drive effective resolutions.

Additional Expectations for 6 - 9 Years :

- Strong expertise in advanced C/C++ and data structures.

- Strong understanding of pointers, memory management, and bit manipulation.

- Hands-on experience with IPC, synchronization, and multithreading.

- Proficiency in GDB and core-dump debugging.

- Experience owning networking protocols or major product features.

- Exposure to system design and technical leadership.

- NPU/ASIC experience is preferred.

Required Candidate Profile :

- 4 - 9 years of hands-on experience in C/C++ software development.

- Strong experience working on Linux-based systems.

- Hands-on experience in L2/L3 networking and packet-forwarding/data-plane development.

- Experience developing software for routers, switches, or network products.

- Strong knowledge of at least one relevant networking protocol : IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, STP, Multicast, DHCP, EVPN-VXLAN, or SRv6.

- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- For 6 - 9 years : advanced C/C++, data structures, multithreading/IPC, GDB/core debugging, feature ownership, and system-level design experience.
