Job Description

Build a New Market for a Global Technology Leader

Teledyne FLIR is making a focused investment in the Houston and Gulf Coast market, and this role is built for a salesperson who wants ownership, influence, and room to grow income by building something new.

We are looking for a Houston-based sales professional with strong relationships across security integrators, fire alarm contractors, consultants, engineers, end users, and channel partners who wants to help build the next growth engine for FLIR.

This is not a maintenance territory.

This is a market-ownership role with the opportunity to develop relationships, influence project direction early, and make FLIR more relevant with the contractors, engineers, consultants, end users, and channel partners who shape major projects across the region.

You will be responsible for creating demand, building partner coverage, influencing specifications, and growing one of FLIR's fastest-growing investments in the Americas.

This role will have significant flexibility in how territory plans, channel strategy, and market development activities are executed.

Why Houston?

Houston sits at the center of several markets where FLIR can build meaningful share:

  • Energy and petrochemical facilities
  • Data centers
  • Battery energy storage systems
  • Manufacturing and industrial operations
  • Logistics and distribution
  • Utilities and critical infrastructure
  • Large commercial campuses

This territory offers access to some of the largest and most technically sophisticated projects in the country.

Why This Role Matters

  • Own one of FLIR's most important growth initiatives
  • Build relationships across the security and fire ecosystem
  • Influence projects long before they go out to bid
  • Help create the market for code-compliant thermal fire detection
  • Make a direct impact on company growth

What Makes This Role Different?

  • Build a business, not just manage a territory
  • Own a priority growth initiative for FLIR
  • Take ownership of a high-growth territory with real income upside
  • Influence consultants, engineers, AHJs, and project specifications
  • Partner directly with product leaders, engineers, and executive stakeholders
  • Help define market strategy and customer adoption

What You'll Do

  • Grow revenue, pipeline, and market share across Security and Fire Life Safety accounts
  • Develop relationships with security integrators, fire alarm contractors, consultants, engineers, manufacturers' representatives, EPCs, and end users
  • Build adoption across security, fire life safety, industrial protection, perimeter security, and code-compliant fire detection applications
  • Influence specifications and project standards with engineering and consulting communities
  • Identify and develop strategic opportunities within data centers, industrial facilities, petrochemical plants, utilities, logistics facilities, critical infrastructure, and commercial campuses
  • Conduct customer presentations, demonstrations, training events, and application reviews
  • Activate and grow channel partners through education, engagement, and joint business development
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to win complex opportunities
  • Represent FLIR at customer events, trade shows, industry associations, and market-development activities

Who Will Be Successful

Top performers in this role typically come from:

  • A security integrator
  • A fire alarm contractor
  • A manufacturer's representative
  • A physical security manufacturer
  • A fire and life safety manufacturer
  • An industrial technology or automation company

You likely have experience selling:

  • Video surveillance
  • Access control
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Detection technologies
  • Industrial safety solutions
  • Building technologies
  • Life safety solutions

You enjoy building relationships, creating opportunities, influencing projects early, and helping customers solve complex technical challenges.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven success in technical B2B sales, business development, channel sales, or regional sales management
  • Experience working with integrators, consultants, engineers, channel partners, or end users
  • Strong consultative selling and territory-development skills
  • Ability to prospect, qualify, develop, and close complex opportunities
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Experience managing pipeline, forecasting, and territory planning
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • Willingness to travel throughout the territory

Preferred

  • Existing relationships within the Houston, Gulf Coast, or broader Texas market
  • Experience with security, fire alarm, fire life safety, industrial safety, or building technologies
  • Experience engaging consulting engineers, fire protection engineers, AHJs, or specification writers
  • Knowledge of data centers, energy, industrial, manufacturing, utility, government, or critical infrastructure markets
  • Experience with thermal imaging, video analytics, perimeter security, fire detection, or emerging sensing technologies
  • NICET, CFPS, or related industry certifications

What FLIR Offers

  • Industry-leading technology portfolio
  • Strong brand recognition and market reputation
  • Significant territory growth potential
  • High visibility within the organization
  • An opportunity to build a significant book of business in one of the largest industrial and critical infrastructure markets in North America
  • Career advancement opportunities within a global technology leader
  • The chance to own a market, shape relationships, and build a visible growth business inside FLIR

Success in This Role

Success will be measured by your ability to build a scalable business across both security and fire life safety channels and turn Houston and the Gulf Coast into a repeatable growth model for FLIR.
