This role sits within the Financial Management Chapter Area, a global team of around 400 finance professionals who partner with the business to deliver financial insight, strategic decision support and performance management across the organisation.
The role with us
As a Finance Analyst within our Financial Management Chapter Area, you will play a critical role delivering insight and driving change via our Agile way of working. While your role will vary from mission to mission, the capabilities and scope of our finance analysts do not.
Our Finance Analysts combine business partnering, financial management and analytical capability to help leaders make informed decisions. This includes financial planning, forecasting, performance reporting, commercial analysis, accounting support and strategic advice.
We support more than 40 missions across Telstra, creating opportunities to apply your skills in a wide range of business contexts while building broad commercial and finance experience.
This is how you'll bring the purpose of your role to life:
Support month-end, forecasting and financial control activities, ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality financial outcomes through effective P&L management, reporting and analysis.
Use financial analysis, modelling and data-driven insights to evaluate performance, identify key business drivers, and uncover risks and opportunities.
Provide commercial insights and recommendations that support business cases, investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, providing financial insight that supports strategic priorities and better business outcomes.
Own your work and contribute independently to management reporting and financial results for assigned business areas.
Continuously interrogate your work to ensure it adds value, automate where possible, eliminate low-impact tasks, and seek smarter ways of working.
Bring a continuous improvement mindset to forecasting and planning, using best-practice approaches to enhance models and processes.
Build subject matter expertise and stay across trends impacting financial and operational performance.
To be successful in the role, you should have:
CA or CPA qualification
Experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, FP&A, management accounting or finance business partnering.
Strong accounting fundamentals, including financial reporting, balance sheet management, financial controls and financial analysis.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
A growth mindset, strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to challenge assumptions and seek better ways of working.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across the business.
A genuine interest in improving business performance through financial insight and commercial thinking
Highly regarded:
Experience within a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services environment.
Experience in a large, complex corporate organisation.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
If you are dedicated to developing yourself, have a desire to always achieve more then we want to hear from you! Above all, you will bring enthusiasm and dedication to your job, are not afraid of hard work, and thrive off the satisfaction gained from achieving success in addressing and successfully overcoming challenges.
Telstra is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. We’re also committed to flexibility and open to considering flexible ways of working for every role.
