About the role:

We are looking for a motivated Middle Full Stack Engineer to help maintain and support our BI Connectors for Jira Data Center - a mature, multi-product Atlassian app that exports Jira data into leading BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, BigQuery, Databases, and OData-based tools).

This is a core reliability and engineering role on a highly successful product with a massive, active user base. Your work is the backbone of the product, ensuring rock-solid stability, compatibility, and security for the teams that rely on it daily. Your time will be spent doing deep-dive investigations to solve complex customer challenges, engineering seamless compatibility with new Jira Data Center and database releases, modernizing dependencies to bulletproof security, and shipping targeted, high-impact improvements.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact position. As you master the architecture, you will become the definitive technical authority when the trickiest, highest-stakes integration problems arise. We care deeply about engineering actual solutions to root causes, not just burning through a queue of tickets. We are looking for a developer who thrives on deciphering complex, real-world codebases, possesses the discipline to build things the right way, and takes immense professional pride in software that simply never goes down.

What you’ll do:

• Investigate and troubleshoot customer and support issues end-to-end - reproduce, find the root cause, and ship reliable fixes in a timely manner

• Maintain and stabilize the existing codebase, keeping it compatible across multiple Jira Data Center versions and database vendors

• Keep the product current and secure - upgrade dependencies, address CVEs, and adapt to new Jira and database releases

• Support customers migrating between environments, including Data Center → Cloud paths

• Make targeted improvements and enhancements

• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to protect against regressions

• Participate in peer code reviews, upholding coding standards and best practices (our code is also gated by automated quality and security checks)

• Work with our GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) - keeping builds green, and running and releasing the product through the automated pipeline

• Work closely with support, QA, PMs, and other stakeholders, and build durable, shareable knowledge of the product and its BI integrations

Tech Stack

• Back-end: Java 8, Spring (via the Atlassian Plugin SDK / Spring Scanner), Maven, REST APIs, SQL across multiple relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server)

• Front-end: TypeScript, React, Redux / Redux Toolkit, Vite, Jest & React Testing Library

• Platform & tooling: Atlassian Jira Data Center (P2 plugin), Git & GitHub, GitHub Actions (CI/CD), automated code-quality and security checks

Who you are:

• 3+ years of relevant full-stack work experience

• Solid back-end experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem (dependency injection, REST controllers); comfortable reading and safely changing an existing framework-based codebase rather than only greenfield work

• Good command of relational databases and SQL, with the judgment to debug data correctness and query-performance issues (bonus across more than one vendor - PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server)

• Practical experience maintaining production UIs with React (hooks, component composition) and TypeScript in a typed codebase

• Familiarity with state management (Redux / Redux Toolkit, MobX, or comparable) and a modern front-end build tool (Vite or Webpack)

• Good understanding of OOP, common design patterns, and automated testing

• Highly analytical, with a genuine passion for debugging - reproducing hard-to-repeat issues and chasing them to their real root cause is a core part of this role

• A sense of ownership - able to work with autonomy, comfortable picking up unfamiliar areas and support tickets and driving them to resolution

• Good communication skills in English (B2+ / upper-intermediate or higher) - you’ll work with international colleagues and support/customer requests, in writing and in meetings

Nice to Have

• Experience developing or maintaining Atlassian Data Center apps (P2 plugins, Atlassian Plugin SDK, Spring Scanner, Marketplace) - or a strong willingness to learn the platform

• Experience supporting a customer-facing product and working directly with support/customer requests

• Familiarity with BI/analytics tooling or the OData protocol

• Experience with performance profiling and optimization on large datasets

• Awareness of secure coding practices (input validation, injection, SSRF, dependency CVEs)

• Awareness of Atlassian Cloud and Cloud-migration paths (e.g., JCMA) for Data Center apps
