Would you like to play a key role in improving how software is developed and delivered across a highly skilled engineering organization? In this role, you will drive initiatives that simplify development workflows, enhance automation, and create a better developer experience. Come and join us!
We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes. We continue to evolve our advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry to deliver real-world solutions that matter to the security of people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose - securing people through advanced technology.
Your role as part of the team
As our new Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a central role in improving developer experience across our engineering organization. Rather than solving individual requests one by one, you will identify recurring challenges, remove friction, and implement scalable improvements that make software development simpler, faster, more secure, and more consistent. We are on a maturity and modernization journey where not all answers are defined. You will have the opportunity to influence both our current development environment and the future direction of our tools, platforms, and ways of working.
You will become part of the Platform Enablement team within DSO, working alongside experienced platform engineers in a strategically prioritized area. We take pride in developing people and technology, and our collaborative culture encourages knowledge sharing, curiosity, and continuous improvement. We care about the work we do and the people behind it.
Technical expertise is important, but your mindset matters even more. If you are curious, proactive, collaborative, and motivated by improving how developers work, you could be a great addition to our team.
How you will make a meaningful contribution
In this role, you will contribute to a range of tasks across your area of responsibility.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Improve the developer experience across onboarding, local development, and software delivery by reducing manual effort, complexity, and delays in feedback
- Design and implement reusable Golden Paths, templates, developer tooling, self-service capabilities, and CI/CD pipelines that embed automation, security, and quality early in the development lifecycle
- Identify recurring challenges across development teams, translate them into scalable solutions, and drive improvements from discovery and prototyping through implementation, rollout, documentation, and continuous optimization
- Establish standards, policies, and guardrails that enable teams to work independently while meeting security, compliance, and operational requirements
- Contribute to shaping the future development environment, mentor colleagues, share knowledge, and help strengthen technical capabilities across the engineering organization.
Bring your expertise into play
To thrive in this role, we imagine that you bring some of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
- Hands-on experience with Git and development workflows, software build and packaging technologies, artifact management solutions, Bash and Python scripting, CI/CD pipelines, development tool integration, and enterprise Linux environmentsparticularly the Fedora/RHEL family.
- Automation of Git workflows, branching, tagging and trunk-based development.
- Experience developing, building, packaging and assembling software into distributable artifacts, e.g. Java, C#, C++, NPM, RPM and container images.
- Experience with setup, integration and governance of package and artifact management, e.g. Maven, Gradle, NuGet, YUM/RPM, PyPI and container registries.
- Experience integrating development tools with authentication and authorization, including SSO using LDAP and Kerberos.
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD workflows, including complex pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, ideally gained through previous experience as a software developer before moving into DevEx, platform, or engineering enablement roles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage technical specialists and stakeholders, challenge existing practices, and drive continuous improvement.
We do not expect you to be an expert in every technology. What matters most is your ability to translate developer needs into scalable tooling and platform improvements. We value diverse experiences and encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement.
As we are an international organization, it is important that you are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level.
