Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You'll be joining the Kaluza Technology community. We’re a large team of both data-led and product focused Software and Production Engineers, pushing the boundaries of technology and working at an extraordinary scale. As a collective we strive for engineering greatness and by ensuring standard processes across the board of the community.

You’ll be working on the Kaluza’s Energy Retail platform. This is a SaaS technology platform that aims to revolutionise the operating platforms for energy retailers globally. This platform has been built with scale and technical quality in mind and is the foundation for decarbonisation efforts by Kaluza’s customers.

More specifically you will be responsible for the teams building our Customer and Agent Experiences. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for creating intuitive and user-centric experiences.

We strive to build tooling that makes it easy for the customer or agent to easily interact with their energy account. We also provide a solution architecture that integrates with retailers wider enterprise application architecture, to enable a low cost to serve and fast time to value. As we mature our products we will make increasing use of the data and analytics available to us to optimise the agent and customer journeys.

You will look after engineering managers, senior engineers and a number of domain-aligned, cross-functional engineering teams, with the majority focus on the front-end.

What will I be doing?

• Providing technical leadership and line management of hybrid engineering teams split across London, Bristol and Lisbon
• Collaborating with product leaders and team members to develop shared target outcomes and ensuring the technology team is set up to achieve these outcomes.
• Managing and developing Software Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers in an autonomous leadership team.
• Defining the technology strategy within your area and influencing the larger Kaluza platform vision.
• Working closely with our Clients to ensure the product we’re building works within their existing ecosystem of Contact Center tooling
• Working with appropriate technology partners to design and build relevant integrations which benefit our platform offering and our clients cost to serve.
• Building and promoting our technology brand, including being responsible for how we bring new talent to your technology teams.
• Continually working towards technical excellence and industry standard processes.
• Building an excellent technology culture of highly autonomous, intrinsically motivated, well-aligned teams.
• Helping teams to make technical decisions that align with our business objectives and long term goals, including building strong relationships with the Product, Design and Commercial partners to your teams.
• Being ultimately responsible for technical decision making and budget.
• Building impactful teams and working with development managers to develop talent and build the succession plans of the next generation of leaders with vision.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you’ll have/be

• A strong technology background, ideally in scalable distributed applications.
• Experience building, running and leading hard-working, autonomous engineering teams (ideally at least 20 people).
• A fundamental understanding of the principles of Agile and lean development.
• Strong expertise in full-stack software development, including front-end and back-end technologies.
• Experience building intuitive and user-friendly interfaces and experiences for web and mobile applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or similar, as well as in modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with senior leaders.
• Previous experience of integrating SaaS platforms into large enterprises to enable business outcomes.
• Experience of working with Solution Architects and Consultants in successful integration projects.
• Experience working in a fast paced, high growth, technology focussed organisation.
• Proven experience of creating a forward thinking technology culture.
