The Role at a Glance

The Agency Instructor I, under direction, assists in training various specialty skilled and/or semi-skilled courses within the TEEX Workforce Development Programs at the Coastal Bend Occupational Advanced Skills Training (COAST) in Corpus Christi, Texas and the RGV Advanced Manufacturing Hub (RAM) in Brownsville, Texas. Utilizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Performs online and/or classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or may provide technical assistance in a specialty area. Uses a variety of media to present course material. May assist in creating new and/or updating curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learner needs. This position provides training in Brownsville, TX and Corpus Christi, TX. Candidates must reside in one of the following counties: Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy.

This position reports to the Training Manager, Transportation & Heavy Equipment.

Qualifications of the Role

  • High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years heavy equipment operations to include experience on two or more of the following: Aerial Work Platforms, Backhoe, Bulldozer, Dump Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Front End Loader, Maintainer, and Skid Steer.
  • Two years of adult education and/or training.
  • Due to the location of course facilitation, applicants must reside in any of the following counties to be considered: Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Cameron, Duval, Hidalgo, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Starr, and Willacy.
  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Must have a valid Class A Commercials Driver’s license (CDL).

Equivalency: Will consider three years of related experience (Listed Above) with an Associate's Degree in applicable field from an accredited college or university OR one year of related experience (Listed Above) with a Bachelor's Degree in applicable field from an accredited college or university. All experience must include two years of adult education and/or training.
