Present in India since 1953, Thales is headquartered in Noida and has other operational offices and sites spread across Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru and Mumbai, among others. Since the beginning, Thales has been playing an essential role in India’s growth story by sharing its technologies and expertise in Defence, Aerospace and Cyber & Digital sectors. Thales has two engineering competence centres in India - one in Noida focused on Cyber & Digital business, while the one in Bengaluru focuses on hardware, software and systems engineering capabilities for both the civil and defence sectors, serving global needs. The Group has also established an MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility in Gurugram to provide comprehensive avionics maintenance and repair services to Indian airlines and support the growth of the local aviation industry.

Missions and Responsibilities of the role

Strategy: Person in this position will play a pivotal role in Thales growth trajectory in India . The person will be responsible for providing inputs and project managing the building of the growth strategies for the India region, closely working with key internal stakeholders and external partners.

Marketing: Person in this position will collaborate with business leaders to understand and analyze the market, to ensure that Thales’ products & services correspond to customer needs and expectations. The person in this role will also implement elements of the Corporate Marketing Plan for the Region.

Outcomes: Strategy / Business Development:

  • Actively supports the annual rolling 5-year regional/country strategic plans for alignment with GBUs, MoD strategic account plans, and country strategic plan, with clear understanding of the economic and industrial trends of the market (including customer needs and competitor offerings), Thales addressable market, and strategy to win keeping in mind Make in India obligations - in order to secure Thales’ position and growth in the market.

  • Execute continuous monitoring of the global trends, competitor activities, regulatory changes and emerging technologies. Address key questions to inform the Group on how India can play a role as a market, a supplier and an innovation engine

  • Identify growth opportunities, organic and inorganic, and prepare report/ recommendations for management review/ action.

  • Lead/Co-lead critical special projects as needed in partnership with internal stakeholders. This would also include contributing to must-win sales / pre-sales engagements, including capture plans / GTM strategy, partner selection, competitive offense / defense strategies.

  • Key responsibility to identify and nurture white spaces, to the point where it can be handed over to sales, in line with Group’s Gate review processes

Outcomes: Marketing:

  • Generates a Marketing Plan aligned with the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and coordinate corresponding actions

  • Supports Key Account Managers/ Sales & Business development teams in promoting Thales’ solutions during the upstream opportunity phase

  • Understands/ analyses the customer’s mission, operational environment and priorities.

  • Drives marketing efforts and defines the best solution (product/system/service) addressing customers’ needs during the upstream opportunity phase

  • Analyze the accessible and non-accessible market, customer needs and developments, budgeted investment programme, competition (strategy, products), and contribute to medium-term order intake forecasts with the sales forces

  • Deploys adapted tools to support strategic business intelligence and keep abreast of trends and competitor’s marketing movements.

Candidate Qualifications/Requirements for the role:

  • Engineer OR MBA from premier business school.

  • At least 8+ years of experience in relevant industry preferably from Aerospace & Defense and / or in management consulting .

  • Experience working in a multi-national organization. Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization.

  • International exposure (education, work experience) preferred.

  • Adaptability in a fast-evolving technological and geo-political landscape.

  • Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills

  • Results-oriented, team player, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good attention to detail, strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
