The Coca-Cola Company is an American beverage business founded in Atlanta in 1892 whose defining commercial decision was to sell concentrate to independent bottlers rather than to bottle and distribute drinks itself. That structure keeps the company's own capital employed low and its margins high while the bottling partners carry the trucks, plants and working capital, and it explains why the company periodically buys and then refranchises bottling operations. Its portfolio extends well beyond the original drink into Sprite, Fanta, Costa Coffee, Minute Maid, Powerade, Topo Chico and BodyArmor, and it is a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Job Description Summary:

At The Coca-Cola Company, our purpose is to refresh the world and make a difference every day. In our Auburndale manufacturing facility, automation is essential to delivering high-quality beverages efficiently and sustainably. We are looking for an Automation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance advanced control systems that keep production running at its best. This role combines technical expertise with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.

What You’ll Do for Us

  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on PLC systems, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, industrial networks, sensors, and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Interpret and utilize PLC code, wiring schematics, ladder logic, and P&ID diagrams to assess system health and implement corrective measures.
  • Install, configure, and test automation components and electrical systems, ensuring safe and reliable equipment operation in compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Monitor performance of automated systems and execute preventive maintenance activities to extend asset life and improve reliability.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical safety practices such as LOTO, Arc Flash protocols, and NFPA 70E to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain and update accurate asset and maintenance records within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including parts usage and repair logs.
  • Evaluate automation and control processes for efficiency and identify areas for improvement to reduce resource consumption and support sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement system modifications, new installations, and process enhancements aligned with production needs.
  • Perform calibration of process instruments measuring temperature, pressure, flow, level, and composition to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to automation, maintenance planning, and reliability processes across manufacturing operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of applied experience in automation, controls, or electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC programs, HMIs, VFD drives, servo systems, and industrial instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards, including NEC and UL508A, as well as safe work practices aligned with NFPA 70E.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and technical documentation for complex control systems.
  • Working knowledge of industrial network protocols such as Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and ControlNet; familiarity with switches, routers, and network architecture in an operational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose system faults using advanced diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, multimeters, and network analyzers.
  • Competence in CMMS usage for recording maintenance activities, managing work orders, and tracking asset history.
  • Commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and operational excellence in a food and beverage production environment.
  • Adaptability to evolving technologies, including digital and AI-enabled maintenance platforms, and willingness to continuously develop skills in automation trends.

What We’ll Do for You

  • Provide opportunities to develop professional expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies and digital systems in a globally recognized organization.
  • Equip you with tools and training to deepen skills in automation, systems integration, and predictive maintenance techniques, ensuring long-term career growth.
  • Offer exposure to cross-functional projects focused on optimizing productivity, efficiency, and quality across one of the largest beverage production networks.
  • Create an environment where innovation, safety, and sustainability are central to your work, empowering you to make meaningful contributions every day.
