Job Description Summary:
Role and Major Responsibilities of Position:
Utility Reliability & Availability
- Own reliability, availability, and performance of all utility systems including electrical distribution, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC, steam, water treatment, wastewater treatment, fire protection systems, backup power generation, and building infrastructure.
- Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize utility uptime and minimize business interruption.
- Monitor utility KPIs and ensure service levels support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Sustainability & Resource Optimization
- Develop and execute the site's Net Carbon Zero roadmap.
- Identify and lead projects to reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, and waste generation.
- Monitor and report energy, water, carbon, and utility performance against annual targets.
- Drive implementation of renewable energy projects, energy recovery systems, and efficiency improvements
- Support corporate sustainability commitments through execution of local initiatives and reporting requirements.
- Conduct energy and water audits and implement improvement opportunities.
Asset Management
- Develop and maintain a facility asset register.
- Establish lifecycle replacement plans for critical assets.
- Develop long-term capital replacement strategies for aging infrastructure and utilities.
- Utilize CMMS systems to plan, execute, and monitor maintenance activities.
Core Technical Duties
- Manage HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, steam, and utility systems
- Design, implement, and oversee facility upgrades, renovations, and system modifications.
- Monitor and optimize energy usage; implement sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) for climate control and energy efficiency. Leads and participates in projects and continuous improvement teams
- Troubleshoot complex building system issues and perform root cause analysis
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, local building codes, and regulatory standards.
- Manage fire life-safety systems, emergency generators, and environmental health programs.
Project & Contractor Management
- Oversee contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance or upgrades.
- Manage capital improvement budgets and facility operation expenses.
Minimum Requirements for Position:
- A Degree / Trade cert in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
- Significant experience in facilities maintenance, operations within industrial environments.
- Proficient in Refrigeration Principles and Systems.
- Qualification in High Voltage Switchgear Operation & Safety Rules required.
- Strong knowledge of EMS tools.
- Strong Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills are essential along with compliance to safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels.
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
- LEED Accreditation or Energy Management Certification (CEM).
