As a result of continued growth, the South African subsidiary of an international packaging group is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing and procurement of a wide range of packaging products from local and international manufacturing partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Source packaging products from approved manufacturing sites locally and globally.
- Evaluate quotations and negotiate competitive pricing.
- Optimise sourcing, production, and logistics costs.
- Process and manage purchase orders and supplier documentation.
- Monitor supplier performance and on-time deliveries.
- Maintain product master data and technical documentation on the ERP system.
- Ensure stock accuracy across warehouses and ERP records.
- Create and maintain product specifications, COC and DOC documents.
- Work closely with Sales on customer forecasts and demand planning.
- Play an active role in product and market development projects, helping to identify new packaging solutions, suppliers, and commercial opportunities that support business growth.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years'' experience in the packaging industry.
- Background in procurement, purchasing, estimating, production planning, quality assurance, supply chain, product development or sales support at a packaging company.
- Knowledge of flexible packaging will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
