About This Opportunity

The Planning and Business Intelligence (PBI) team at UQ have a rare opportunity for a highly organised, creative and analytical professional to join the team as a Senior Program Development Analyst. In this role, you will contribute to the development of innovative and relevant programs at UQ that respond to student, workforce and community priorities.

Working within a small specialist team, you will collaborate with academic and professional stakeholders across the University to develop new program business cases and undertake the market analysis, program viability assessment and pricing analysis needed to inform decision-making. You will also contribute to PBI’s load planning, admissions management and Federal Government reporting functions.

As PBI’s Senior Program Development Analyst, you will combine your natural curiosity, strategic thinking, analytical insight and sound judgement, with opportunities to strengthen governance and help shape new program development through evidence-based planning at UQ.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development of new program proposals by undertaking market, demand, viability and pricing analysis, and supporting the preparation of business cases to inform program approval decisions.
  • Partner with academic and professional stakeholders across the University to guide program proposals through the Program Development Framework, providing strategic advice and facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Design and deliver data analysis, scenario modelling, reports and insights that support program development, student load planning, admissions management and executive decision-making.
  • Translate complex data and diverse stakeholder perspectives into clear recommendations, briefings and presentations for senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the annual tuition fee review process, undertaking market analysis and financial modelling to provide evidence-based pricing recommendations.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve governance and administrative processes that support strategic program development, program approval and student load planning activities.
  • Lead the creation, curation and enhancement of data sources, datasets and reporting solutions, including identifying emerging data requirements and collaborating on data quality and system improvements.
  • Contribute to the broader Student Load Planning & Program Development function through admissions monitoring, government reporting, ad hoc analysis and the provision of timely, accurate business intelligence.

About You

You will have:

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification with substantial relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • High-level analytical skills, including the ability to design analysis, apply rigorous logic to evaluate and interpret findings, apply sound business judgement to improve processes, provide sustainable solutions, and develop and present advice that supports strategic decision-making.
  • High-level skills in compiling, manipulating and analysing complex administrative datasets using reporting tools such as SAP BusinessObjects (or similar) and Excel.
  • Clear and succinct written and oral communication skills, including experience designing reports and/or dashboards to visualise and interpret data.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and demonstrated effectiveness in communicating with diverse audiences within a large and complex organisation.
  • An excellent understanding of the environment and current issues in Australian higher education, particularly in relation to government policy, student demand, load monitoring and projection, and strategic issues in program development.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to independently set goals, develop priorities, meet timelines, and to manage multiple and diverse tasks effectively.
