The Vanguard Group is an American investment manager founded in 1975 that pioneered the retail index fund and is now one of the two largest asset managers in the world. It is owned by the funds it runs, and therefore by their shareholders, a mutual structure that lets it push management fees toward zero and has reshaped pricing across the whole industry. From Malvern in Pennsylvania it operates mutual funds, exchange traded funds, brokerage, retirement plan administration and advice services for tens of millions of individual and institutional clients.

About Vanguard

More than 50 years ago, John C. Bogle had a vision to start an investment company that did things differently. A company with no external shareholders. Where all the profits were invested back into the business and used to lower costs. Evidently, it was as bold as it was brilliant. To this day, Vanguard Group still has no external shareholders. That means no share prices to protect, and no profits to generate for outside owners.

Today, Vanguard is one of the world’s largest investment management companies, serving more than 50 million investors worldwide. For more than 30 years Vanguard Australia has been supporting individual investors, financial advisers, and superannuation members to achieve their long-term financial goals.

Team and Opportunity

The newly created Fund Finance and Regulatory Reporting Senior Analyst role is a senior specialist position within the Fund and Regulatory Reporting team. The role supports accurate, timely and well-governed financial and regulatory reporting across Vanguard Super and Vanguard Australia, with particular focus on sustainability reporting, finance data and regulatory change. Working closely with the Head of Fund and Regulatory Reporting, the role translates complex requirements into controlled, scalable and audit-ready reporting processes.

We are looking for an experienced specialist who enjoys complex reporting, evolving regulation and using data and technology to improve outcomes. You will combine strong technical expertise with sound judgement, hands-on delivery and the ability to influence stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Product, Technology, service providers and assurance teams.

What you will do

  • Lead the preparation, review and continuous improvement of sustainability and other regulatory reporting deliverables, including supporting data, controls, evidence and sign-off materials.
  • Support Vanguard Super financial reporting and fund finance operations, including financial statements, audit coordination and assessment of business changes impacting Finance.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to move between sustainability reporting, APRA reporting and broader finance priorities, applying strong technical judgement and adapting quickly as team priorities evolve.
  • Interpret new and emerging regulatory and accounting requirements, assess their impact and translate them into practical reporting processes, data requirements and controls.
  • Act as a finance data steward for fund and regulatory reporting, strengthening data definitions, mapping, lineage, quality checks and reconciliation controls.
  • Partner with internal teams, administrators, custodians, auditors and other service providers to resolve data, reporting and delivery dependencies.
  • Prepare clear analysis and advice on assumptions, methodologies, reporting impacts, risks and issues for senior management and governance forums.
  • Lead assigned workstreams and contribute subject-matter expertise to regulatory change, sustainability and reporting improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement improvements across people, process, data and technology, including controlled use of automation, analytics and artificial intelligence.
  • Provide technical guidance, peer review and coaching to other team members, helping build team capability and reduce key-person dependency.

What we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong experience in financial or regulatory reporting within superannuation, investment management or another highly regulated financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulatory, accounting or sustainability requirements and convert them into controlled business processes and reporting outcomes.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing external reporting deliverables, supporting documentation and audit-ready evidence.
  • Sound knowledge of superannuation fund accounting and reporting, including financial statements, APRA reporting and relevant Australian accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data issues, assess risk and explain complex matters clearly.
  • Experience leading workstreams, coordinating multiple contributors and delivering high-quality outcomes to fixed deadlines.
  • Strong team skills
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative agile approach, with the ability to provide guidance, peer review and coaching without formal people-management accountability.

Additional experience that will set you apart

We're particularly interested in candidates who bring experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Sustainability reporting, including Australian climate-related financial disclosure requirements and broader sustainability frameworks.
  • APRA reporting for superannuation or investment products.
  • Superannuation fund financial statements, fund operations or managed funds reporting.
  • Finance data governance, data lineage, quality controls or reporting automation.
  • Indirect investment cost analysis, including RG 97-related calculations and governance.
  • Implementation of new regulatory reporting requirements or participation in cross-functional change programs.
  • CA, CPA or another relevant postgraduate qualification.
