Thomson Reuters is a Canadian information company created in 2008 when the Thomson Corporation acquired the British news and data group Reuters, and it now sells research, workflow software and analytics rather than raw information. Its largest businesses serve law firms and corporate counsel through Westlaw and Practical Law, tax and accounting professionals through Checkpoint and ONESOURCE, and corporate risk and compliance teams through screening and investigation products, alongside the Reuters news agency. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto and New York, it has invested heavily in generative assistants embedded directly in those professional workflows.

Job Description

The Legal AI Solution Consultant is a customer-facing pre-sales expert who accelerates Legal AI and technology sales opportunities to close. Partnering closely with Sales, you'll lead the discovery, solution design, demonstration, trial, and recommendation stages of the sales cycle. This role combines deep legal-domain expertise, consultative selling capability, and advanced knowledge of AI-enabled legal technology to help lawyers understand and implement Thomson Reuters' AI tools in their daily practice.

Key Responsibilities

In this opportunity as a Legal AI Solution Consultant, you will:

  • Lead compelling, tailored product demonstrations and proof-of-value engagements that showcase AI-enabled legal workflows and clearly connect product capabilities to customer use cases.
  • Partner with Sales to lead pre-sales activities across the opportunity lifecycle, including discovery, needs analysis, solution design, demonstrations, trials, proposals, and recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to prospective customers, translating legal-business challenges into practical, scalable solutions using Thomson Reuters' legal technology, AI, automation, content, and data capabilities.
  • Conduct in-depth discovery to understand customers' business priorities, legal workflows, operating models, technology landscapes, data requirements, risk profiles, and AI-readiness.
  • Support strategic retention and renewal situations by bringing relevant legal, technology, and AI domain expertise to customer conversations.
  • Stay current on developments in legal AI, generative AI, legal operations, data analytics, regulation, and the competitive legal-technology landscape.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, sharing market insights, recurring pain points, product feedback, and AI use-case requirements with product, strategy, and business teams.
  • Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities across Thomson Reuters' Legal Solutions portfolio and broader products and services business.

Required Qualifications

You’re a fit for the role of Legal AI Solution Consultant ifyou have the following required qualifications:

  • 6-8+ years of relevant legal and sales experience
  • Demonstrated experience selling, implementing, supporting, or advising on AI solutions within the legal information or technology industry
  • Excellent product demonstration and presentation skills
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills (written and verbal), including experience engaging with senior-level contacts
  • Solid understanding of the sales process and commercial dynamics
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple pre-sales projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in identifying cross-sell and upsell opportunities
  • Track record working with enterprise legal clients or legal operations teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong legal background or prior experience in legal practice
  • Subject matter expertise in AI, legal technology, and the legal environment
