Lead AIOps Architect

Due to the nature of the projects and specific client security clearance, this role requires the successful candidate to be a Singapore Citizen.

As a Lead AIOps Architect at Thoughtworks, you will be a hands-on technical leader driving engineering excellence and connecting our global AIOps capabilities with our regional client projects across APAC.

As a seasoned AIOps practitioner, you will spend the vast majority of your time embedded in client project teams, designing production-grade solutions, writing high-quality code, and building automation pipelines on focused engagements. The rest of your time will focus on targeted technical pre-sales support, mentoring engineering teams, and advancing our internal AIOps practices.

This is a high-visibility, technical individual contributor (IC) role. You will lead through technical influence, hands-on engineering, and architectural guidance across global and local teams, bringing global accelerators and reference architectures to local accounts while feeding project-level insights back to the global practice.

Job responsibilities

• Architecture Design: Own the technical solution architecture for AIOps engagements, designing pragmatic, production-ready solutions that balance technical constraints, cost-efficiency, performance, and security.
• Hands-On Building: Deeply engage in building and implementing AIOps solutions, PoCs, and accelerators (across observability, intelligent alerting, AI-assisted triage, RCA, knowledge retrieval, and runbook automation) by writing production-quality code.
• Data & Workflow Engineering: Design and build data pipelines, tool integrations, and agentic workflows connecting observability, ITSM, and collaboration platforms into cohesive, automated flows.
• Engineering Excellence: Champion Thoughtworks engineering best practices, including clean code, TDD, CD, IaC, and strong observability within project teams.
• AI Evaluation & Governance: Design and operate evaluation/testing pipelines for AI/LLM components, establishing baselines/guardrails for accuracy, latency, cost, and reliability.
• Technical Advisory: Act as an AIOps advisor to client teams, assessing operational maturity, translating pain points into concrete use cases, and defining measurable outcomes (e.g., MTTR/MTTD reduction).
• Provide deep technical domain expertise to sales and account teams to qualify opportunities and assess technical feasibility.
• Support technical scoping, estimations, and high-level solution design for proposals, Statements of Work (SoWs), and discovery workshops.
• Clearly articulate architectural choices, technical trade-offs, and integration strategies to technical stakeholders and engineering leads.
• Act as the technical bridge between global DAMO AIOps teams and regional projects, ensuring global accelerators and tools are applied and contextualized locally.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

• Engineering & SRE Foundation: Strong software engineering and SRE/DevOps foundation, with hands-on experience building and maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Hands-On AIOps Capability: Deep experience architecting and implementing AIOps solutions, with proficiency in writing clean, production-quality code (such as Python) for integrations and automation.
• GenAI Implementation Experience: Practical experience applying generative AI patterns (such as RAG, agentic workflows, LLMOps) in operations scenarios, with a clear understanding of when AI is and is not appropriate.
• Modern Tooling Ecosystem: Familiarity with leading observability and ITSM platforms (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, ServiceNow, or equivalent) and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Modern Engineering Practices: Proficiency with modern engineering tools including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing.
• Technical Communication & Mentorship: Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and influence architectural decisions across distributed engineering teams.
