We’re looking for a Mechanic to join our Kansas City team, keeping construction equipment, vehicles, trailers, and small engines running safely and reliably. You’ll handle preventative maintenance, diagnose breakdowns, and make the repairs that keep our operation moving.

This is a hands-on role with room to take ownership, solve problems, and help build a new Kansas City shop from the ground up. As we grow, there’s opportunity for you to grow with us.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Preventative maintenance and repairs on vehicles, trailers, construction equipment, and small engines
• Troubleshooting equipment when something isn't working and determining what needs to be repaired
• Working on excavators, tampers, generators, power washers, vehicles, trailers, and other equipment
• Diagnosing issues involving engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and other mechanical components
• Responding to equipment breakdowns and prioritizing repairs based on what needs attention first
• Maintaining DOT-related equipment and supporting required inspections
• Keeping the Kansas City shop organized, equipped, and ready to support the operation
• Helping with projects such as building out service vans and box trucks
• Traveling to support equipment and crews throughout the South region, including SPI and ICT, as needed
• Working closely with Regional Managers and field teams to communicate equipment issues, repair needs, and priorities
• Following safe work practices and maintaining a clean, productive work area

Schedule:

The day will start at 6:00 AM and there may be opportunity for overtime. Travel within the South region will be required as needed, including an initial week of training in Omaha.

Compensation:

$28 - $32/hour, dependent on experience

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 2-4 years of mechanical and/or engine repair experience, with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with gas and/or diesel engines, including the ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs.
• Must be comfortable working in a shop that is currently being built out. The mechanic bay does not yet have a lift, so a creeper and hydraulic ramps will be used for certain repairs until a lift can be installed.
• Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Construction equipment experience is a plus.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Shop or mobile technician experience is a plus.
• Your own professional set of mechanic’s tools and toolbox is strongly preferred.
• A self-motivated, independent approach with strong communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to safety, quality, and reliable work.
• Must be at least 21 years of age or have at least 2 years of driving experience.
• A DOT medical card is required and can be obtained upon hire.
• CDL is a plus.
• DOT-related experience is a plus.
• Ability to provide and use your own professional set of mechanic’s tools and toolbox is strongly preferred.
• Must successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and background check.
• A history of reliable, consistent employment is preferred.
