Construction Project Manager

• Matric, National Higher Diploma, or similar with 5-8 years’ experience managing building/construction projects
• SACPCMP - Professional registration with the SA Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions
• Hands on experience with strong technical understanding of building structures, construction methods, materials and building trades
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings & specifications
• Proficiency in project planning software, MS Project and MS Office
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle
• Confident communicator liaising across all levels of people with excellent problem-solving skills
• Proactive -someone who spots the problem before it becomes a delay
• Leadership ability with the authority to hold contractors and teams accountable

DUTIES

• Manage the full project lifecycle: briefing, feasibility, design coordination, tendering, construction, snagging and handover
• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, critical path schedules and milestone plans
• Source, appoint and manage building contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, including tender comparison and contract negotiation
• Coordinate daily between architects, structural and civil engineers, quantity surveyors, municipal authorities and site teams
• Anticipate bottlenecks with approvals, procurement lead times, trade clashes, weather& and resolve before delays occur
• Control project budgets, cash flow, variations and cost reporting; review and approve payment certificates
• Conduct regular site inspections to check progress, workmanship quality and compliance with drawings and specifications
• Ensure compliance with the National Building Regulations, SANS standards, OHS Act and construction health and safety requirements
• Run site and progress meetings, keep clear minutes, and track actions to completion
• Provide clients with regular, transparent progress and financial reports
• Manage risk, resolve disputes and handle client expectations professionally
• Oversee snag lists, practical completion, occupancy certificates and final handover documentation
