TheDirectorSoftware Engineeringis a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all technology-related initiativesforTFS'sEnterpriseShared Services andframeworks. This role entails developing and executing the technology strategy to ensure alignment with overarching businessobjectives. The Director ofSoftware Engineering mustleveragetheir technicalexpertiseto drive innovation and deliver impactful business outcomes. Additionally, they shouldpossessstrong influencing skills to shape strategy and forge partnerships both internally and externallycollaboratingwithTechnology Domain Owners(TDOs), Enterprise Architecture, Data Domain Owners (DDOs), and Business Domain Owners (BDOs).

Whatyou'llbe doing

Leadership and Team Management:

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

• Provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members to ensure individual and team goals are met.

• Manage performance evaluations, career development, and succession planning for the team.

Technology Strategy and Execution:

• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for technology initiatives to deliver industry leading real time platform and tools that can beleveragedfor cloud based distributed systems, AI/ML, critical workflows, enabling seamless communication across systems for customer notifications, servicing updates, and operational events.

• Implement advanced solutions using technologies like Kafka, AWS MQ, and other distributed systems to support real-time communication at scale.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technology solutions that enhance employee experience.

• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve and innovate our technology offerings.

Vendor Management and Partnerships:

• Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

• Evaluate vendor performance, negotiate contracts, and drive value-added partnerships to support our technology initiatives.

Whatyou bring

• 12+ years ofexpertiseas a software engineering leader with experience in designing and implementing modern 12 factor cloud native business technology solutions.

• 10+ yearspractical knowledge of cloud platforms,Provencredentialsand certification in cloud technologies

• 10+ yearspractical knowledge of advanced software design patterns & architecture (Domain Driven Design, Simple Design...) anddevops

• 3+ yearsofexperience with real-time event-driven, microservice architecture using Kafka and related technologies.

• 5+ yearsofproficiencyin Java, Spring Framework (Spring Batch, Spring Integration), streaming technologies (likekafka) andmicroservicesarchitecture.

• Demonstrated experience building and managing production grade systems covering operationalreadiness, security,efficiencyand otherNon-FunctionalRequirements.

• 5+ years ofdirectmanagement experience, with a proven history of acting aschangeagent for the company.

• Demonstrated experience building a high performing team whose function requirescross companycollaboration, has enterprise-wide reach, or is strategically critical to the business.

• Proventrack recordof delivering scalable cloud native solutions by developing frameworks for addressing cross cutting concerns like logging, application testing and application security and instrumentationleveragingprogramming languages like Java, Python, SQL, and a variety of AWS tools and services.

• Strong communicationskills with the ability to move seamlessly between conversing with engineers or frontline ops employees and leading presentations with non-technical stakeholders.

• A passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimentingwithand learningnew technologies,participatingin internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code.

• Master's degree in computer scienceor amaster's degree in software engineering

• Previousexperiencesuccessfullydeliveringshared services,frameworksor other reusable services at enterprise scale.
