As a Medical Lab Technician at MercyOne, you will:
Act as technical information resource for MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or results and uses knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and resolve them
Consult with Medical Technologists and/or Medical Laboratory Scientists when appropriate
Perform tasks and procedures specific to assigned section with minimal supervision
Schedule:
40 hours a week
Evenings
General Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in science-related field
- Successful completion of a NAACLS or ABHES accredited MLT program or alternate career path that meets certification eligibility requirements
- Certification in either Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- A person may be hired into this position if he/she has completed the requirements for registration for the certification exam. The exam must be successfully completed within six (6) months of hire.
