About the Role
Lead a core product engineering team building software that helps local governments modernize their services. This hands-on, product-minded role combines people leadership with technical direction and direct contributions to design and code.
What You'll Do
Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 7 software engineers, supporting their growth and development.
Partner with product and cross-functional teams to define and deliver the technical roadmap for core products.
Spend approximately 20 to 30 percent of your time coding, reviewing code, and shaping architecture.
Guide architectural decisions to keep systems scalable, performant, and maintainable.
Promote strong practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and engineering ownership.
What We're Looking For
7 to 15 years of full-stack software engineering experience, including at least 1 year as a people manager or team lead.
A strong individual contributor foundation, direct people-management experience, and the ability to stay hands-on with technical design and code.
Proficiency with React, TypeScript, Python, and Kotlin or Go; familiarity with Java and PostgreSQL is also relevant.
Experience with AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD.
Experience in early-stage startups and customer-facing product development, including work outside large, highly resourced technology companies.
Ability to work US time zones and travel to customers approximately 10 percent of the time.
Experience integrating AI tools into engineering workflows is valued.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $165,000 to $205,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
