Join a well-established Australian manufacturing and building products business as an Assistant Accountant. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Management and Commercial Accountants, supporting month-end processes, reconciliations, inventory accounting, reporting, and financial analysis. Position Description
The Assistant Accountant will provide transactional accounting support across Western Australian and South Australian operations, working closely with Management Accountants and Commercial Accountants.
The role is responsible for supporting month-end activities, maintaining general ledger accuracy, performing reconciliations, assisting with statutory reporting requirements, supporting inventory accounting processes, and conducting ad hoc financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End and General Ledger Support
- Support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain general ledger journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Review and analyse expense allocations, ensuring correct and accurate general ledger coding in line with the chart of accounts.
- Reconcile accounts as required.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare daily operating reports.
- Assist with monthly BAS and FBT returns, working closely with Management Accountants and the Corporate Finance Team.
Inventory and Commercial Accounting Support
- Support inventory-related accounting and reporting activities.
- Provide transactional accounting support to Management Accountants and Commercial Accountants as required.
Analysis and Continuous Support
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis.
- Undertake other position-related duties as required
Requirements
Essential
- Degree qualification in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years' commercial accounting experience.
- Inventory management exposure or experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be willing to work on-site daily. Our office is in Ortigas.
Preferred
- Experience using Oracle ERP.
Desirable
- Manufacturing or building industry experience.
