Uber is an American mobility and delivery company founded in San Francisco in 2009 that connects independent drivers and couriers with riders and customers through its apps. It operates ride hailing in thousands of cities, a food and grocery delivery business built on the same courier network, a freight brokerage matching shippers with carriers, and an advertising business that sells placement inside those apps. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2019, the company reached sustained profitability in the mid 2020s and now partners with autonomous vehicle developers rather than building self-driving technology itself.

About the Role

The Lead Event Operations Manager is responsible for driving the strategy, planning, and flawless execution of enterprise-level live events across our global offices. This role oversees the full event operations lifecycle-from pre-production planning and stakeholder alignment to onsite execution and post-event evaluation. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise live event operations & production management, excels at collaborating with executive stakeholders, and can lead complex, high-visibility events such as ELT sessions, Board of Directors meetings, earnings calls, and large internal or external productions.

This individual will serve as the operational leader for our Live Events function, shaping best practices, improving workflows, mentoring the team, and ensuring a consistently exceptional experience for event participants and audiences.

What the Candidate Will Do (Responsibilities)

  • Lead the end-to-end operations for enterprise-level live events, including planning, scheduling, stakeholder alignment, and onsite execution.
  • Own and manage event readiness workflows, pre-production meetings, technical walkthroughs, and run-of-show scripts.
  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for executive stakeholders during high-profile events.
  • Partner with AV Engineering, Workplace, Production, Communications, and external vendors to ensure seamless execution.
  • Oversee onsite event operations-managing crew, backstage logistics, timing, cues, transitions, and risk mitigation.
  • Identify operational risks and develop contingency and recovery plans for hybrid and in-person events.
  • Develop, document, and refine event operations standards, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Mentor and guide Event Operations Managers, Specialists, and Coordinators (levels 4 and 3), providing leadership and strategic direction.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing event performance, incorporating leadership feedback, and implementing scalable enhancements.
  • Support long-range planning for event spaces, technology upgrades, equipment needs, and operational staffing models.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external production vendors, rental houses, and event service providers.

Basic Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

  • 10+ years of professional experience in live event operations, event production, or corporate event management.
  • 5+ years in a senior, lead, or managerial role supporting executive-level or large-scale events.
  • Proven track record managing hybrid events, executive meetings, and multi-camera or AV-integrated productions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading onsite event operations, coordinating cross-functional teams, and managing vendors or production crews.
  • Strong understanding of event logistics, run-of-show planning, backstage operations, and technical readiness workflows.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and provide clear operational recommendations.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and crisis-management skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining event processes, SOPs, and operational standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting ELT, BOD, CEO-level events, or other high-stakes executive productions.
  • Background working with hybrid meeting platforms (Zoom, broadcast/streaming workflows).
  • Experience collaborating with AV teams, creative teams, workplace teams, or external production agencies.
  • Familiarity with technical production elements such as staging, lighting, audio, camera placement, event cues, and content playback systems (without requiring engineering depth).
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring event operations teams or managing multiple event tracks simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to improve processes, create scalable workflows, and drive operational excellence across a global environment.
  • Budget oversight experience for event operations, equipment, or vendor services.
