Work Set-up:

• Hybrid set-up
• October: On-site training in Singapore (travel provision included).
• November - December: Continuation of training on-site in Manila.
• Standard work arrangement resumes thereafter, in line with the assigned project’s requirements.

Requirements, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, and lead development of scalable, high-availability backend services and RESTful APIs using Go, Java, and JavaScript
• Drive the design and evolution of enterprise-grade applications using the Spring Framework and Spring Boot, setting technical direction for the team
• Own the design of complex business logic, authentication, authorization, and integration services, ensuring extensibility and security by design
• Define API design standards and lead the design of APIs for internal and external system integrations
• Partner with frontend teams and take ownership of complex user-facing components using ReactJS where needed
• Lead the design and optimization of relational database solutions using MySQL, including architecture decisions for scale
• Architect efficient, scalable database schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and data access layers
• Lead database performance tuning and query optimization efforts, identifying systemic bottlenecks
• Own end-to-end integration architecture between frontend applications and backend services
• Evaluate, integrate, and govern third-party services, APIs, and enterprise systems
• Drive microservices architecture and distributed system design decisions across the team
• Establish and enforce standards for data consistency, security, and system reliability across applications
• Lead the development and enhancement of web applications, championing modern software engineering principles and best practices
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering leadership to shape technical strategy and deliver high-quality features
• Lead system architecture discussions, drive technical design decisions, and document architectural trade-offs
• Set and enforce coding standards, ensuring code is clean, maintainable, and well-documented across the team
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex, high-impact application issues across development, staging, and production
• Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor engineers, and raise the overall technical bar of the team
• Own application performance, scalability, reliability, and security at a system-wide level
• Establish and champion automated testing strategy and practices to ensure software quality
• Own deployment strategy and lead monitoring/incident response to ensure application health post-release
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, and contribute to hiring and technical onboarding processes
• Communicate progress to stakeholders
• Keep abreast of new digital product and technology trends that may significantly affect the operations of the Client
• Keep up to date on training and continuous personal development plans
• Assist in pre-sales, post-sales and product development to win and maintain clients
• Align with the culture of the company
• Participate in company events that foster camaraderie and build rapport and teamwork
• Communicate regularly and effectively with Client and customers as needed
• Familiarity and relevant experience with the insurance industry
• Conduct Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions and training for team members and stakeholders, including during the Singapore (October) and Manila (November-December) training engagements.
• Develop and deliver training materials, guides, and documentation to support upskilling and smooth knowledge handover.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• At least 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, with a proven track record of owning systems end-to-end
• Strong hands-on experience with Go, Java, and JavaScript in production environments
• Deep expertise in the Spring Framework and Spring Boot for building enterprise-grade applications
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs, including authentication, authorization, and integration services
• Working knowledge of ReactJS and experience collaborating on or contributing to frontend components
• Strong expertise in MySQL, including schema design, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning at scale
• Solid experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems design
• Demonstrated experience integrating third-party services, APIs, and enterprise systems
• Strong understanding of system design principles, including scalability, reliability, and security best practices
• Experience leading or significantly contributing to architecture and technical design decisions
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead code reviews that raise team-wide code quality
• Experience with automated testing strategies (unit, integration, and end-to-end testing)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production monitoring/incident response
• Excellent communication skills, with experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership
• Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers a plus
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and driving successful project outcomes.
• Prior experience conducting Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions, training, or facilitation for teams and/or clients is highly preferred.
• Willingness and availability to travel to Singapore for training in October, and to continue training in Manila from November to December.
