General Description/Primary Purpose

The Assistant Director of Student Success Processes provides leadership and operational oversight for academic records processes that support student progression and degree completion. This position manages the day-to-day administration of transfer credit evaluation and articulation for currently enrolled students, graduation review and certification, degree exceptions, and compliance-related credentialing requirements. The Assistant Director is responsible for supervising and developing professional staff, ensuring consistent application of institutional and state policies, monitoring service levels and workload distribution, and implementing quality assurance processes that promote accuracy, efficiency, and student success.

Working collaboratively with academic departments, advising leadership, Enrollment Services, Information Technology Services, and other campus partners, the Assistant Director establishes operational standards for academic progress and credentialing functions, coordinates training and documentation efforts, oversees workload and service delivery, and ensures institutional readiness for graduation and other high-volume academic progress cycles.

Job Functions

Student Success Processes and Operations

  • Direct and maintain accountability for academic progress and credentialing operations supporting currently enrolled students, including transfer credit evaluation and articulation, graduation review and certification, degree exceptions, and civic literacy requirements.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of university, state, and accreditation requirements related to student progression, degree completion, and academic records.
  • Establish operational priorities, determine workload assignments, adjust staffing and resources in response to service demands, and resolve escalated processing issues to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Coordinate graduation-certification readiness activities, including process planning, resource allocation, and collaboration with campus partners.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and the student experience.

Staff Leadership and Quality Assurance

  • Supervise, assign, prioritize, and evaluate the work of professional staff responsible for academic progress and credentialing functions; provide coaching, training, performance feedback, and professional development to support operational effectiveness and employee growth.
  • Establish and monitor operational performance metrics and prepare reports and recommendations to support decision-making, resource planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with departmental and institutional standards.

Strategic Leadership, Collaboration, and Academic Progression

  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, training materials, and documentation to support effective and consistent service delivery.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for academic progress and credentialing processes and provide guidance to staff and campus stakeholders.
  • Partner with academic departments, advising leadership, Enrollment Services, Information Technology Services, and other university offices to support student progression and degree completion initiatives.
  • Represent the department on university committees, workgroups, and cross-functional projects related to academic records, student success, and credentialing.
  • Support departmental initiatives that advance student success, retention, and degree completion.

Marginal Functions

  • Perform duties as assigned during declared campus emergencies, which may include remote or alternate-location work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
