The Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa invites applications for an English-language replacement professor position at the Assistant level.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa is located on the ancestral territories of the Algonquin people, in the heart of the nation’s capital. With more than fifty professors, it offers an exceptional intellectual environment for its students, researchers and professors. Open to the world, the Faculty is committed to providing students with a rich and stimulating experience and to promoting excellence in research.

This recruitment reflects the current Faculty of Education’s strategic plan, which emphasizes social and ecological justice, well-being, and excellence and innovation in teaching and research.

Overall duties: The overall duties of the position include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities demonstrated through research, literary or artistic creation, or professional activities; c) activities related to service to the university community and, d) graduate student supervision.

The specific duties for this position are associated with directing the Anglophone Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) / Teacher Education Program. Collaboration with the Francophone sector of the Faculty is an important dimension of the position.

Term: New replacement professor position, starting on January 1st, 2027, to June 30th, 2028

Salary: The salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Education or equivalent in a field related to the position

  • Work experience: Excellent program management skills. Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in an interdisciplinary collaborative context. Candidates must also demonstrate the skills and openness needed to deliver courses in hybrid and online formats. Research experience in a field of the Faculty of Education. Experience in Curriculum studies is a plus. Passive knowledge of French is essential. Full French-English bilingualism is considered an asset.
