Job Description

The department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Operations Specialist to join their team.

About this Opportunity

This position will lead strategic planning for the UW Center for Suicide Prevention and Recovery (CSPAR) Suicide Care Team (SCT), a new project dedicated to providing high-quality suicide care to patients referred from across the University of Washington, including UW Medicine patients, clinicians, and UW students. This role will build and manage project charters and associated work plans, develop tools such as workflow diagrams and procedures, identify and manage project issues, risks, and decisions, and develop progress dashboards, reports, and other methods to communicate project progression and ensure timely project delivery and outcomes. Successful project management of the Suicide Care Team will allow this program to continue beyond the grant period, directly aligning with the mission and vision for UW Medicine to improve the health of the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate strategic plan development and implementation (40%)
  • Coordinate and convene team members, collaborators, advisors, sponsors, etc. as necessary to achieve project success (20%)
  • Support clinic infrastructure development and maintenance (20%)
  • Manage project budget (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned (10%)

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Behavioral Health, Communications, Education, Human Services, or a related field.
  • 4 years’ experience with project management and in-depth knowledge of project management best practices, preferably in a healthcare environment.

  • Recognized for managing or facilitating strong and innovative teams, has strong interpersonal and personnel management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead to outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in critical thinking and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving issues and risks.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work efforts and work under pressure while maintaining effectiveness.
  • Strong collaborative, proactive, and positive working style.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting to staff and to operational leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multiple complex projects and/or programs.
  • Proficiency in leading committees and facilitating effective meetings.
  • Ability to function as a project management SME and drive best practice/infrastructure development.
  • Comfort using technology for collaboration, communication, and tracking, including the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and project management platforms (e.g. Basecamp).
  • Comfort being around discussions of suicide and mental health as well as comfort working with stressed and distressed patients experiencing suicidality, their family members, and/or the clinicians and staff who treat them.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • Formal project management training or certification. PMP Certification.
  • Experience working within a complex health system, and/or an academic health system.
  • Experience interacting professionally with individuals with lived experience of mental health conditions, especially suicidality.

About the Team

This position is for the UW Center for Suicide Prevention and Recovery (CSPAR) Suicide Care Team (SCT). The multidisciplinary Suicide Care Team provides a continuum of evidence-based services to individuals experiencing suicidality and to those who treat or support them. This team is dedicated to providing high-quality suicide care to patients referred from across the University of Washington, including UW Medicine patients, clinicians, and UW students.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$69,720.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$104,568.00 annual
