Valar Ecom is looking for a Full Stack Developer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and building high-performance, scalable systems. You'll work across the entire stack—from designing intuitive frontend experiences to architecting resilient backend and infrastructure systems. If you love writing clean, type-safe code, enjoy deep architectural discussions, and can balance technical perfection with practical delivery, this role is for you.
The core requirements for the job include the following:
Core Backend (Primary Focus):
- Node.js / Express.js - Building high-throughput APIs and webhook handlers.
- Queue Systems - BullMQ, Redis-backed job processing, worker management.
- Databases - SQL/NoSQL optimisation, indexing, query tuning, connection pooling.
- Distributed Systems - Multi-layer caching, data consistency, resilience patterns.
- API Design - REST, GraphQL, pagination, rate limiting, versioning.
Frontend Development:
- React - Hooks, component composition, lifecycle, performance optimisation.
- TypeScript - Generics, type-safe APIs, type narrowing, strict mode.
- Performance - Virtual scrolling, memoisation, debouncing, lazy loading.
- Real-time - WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, live data updates.
- CSS / Design - Custom styling, responsive design, accessibility-first approach.
Infrastructure and DevOps:
- Deployment - CI/CD pipelines, blue-green deployments, canary releases.
- Monitoring - Prometheus, Grafana, structured logging, alerting systems.
- Performance - Error tracking, benchmarking, load testing, optimisation.
Data Engineering:
- Real-time Pipelines - Event streaming, data processing at scale.
- Consistency - Transaction management, distributed data integrity.
- High Traffic - Handling bursts, spike management, graceful degradation.
Non-Technical Skillsets:
Problem Solving:
- Strong analytical skills with clear trade-off reasoning (e. g., "Why Redis over an in-memory cache for this use case? ").
- Proactively identifying edge cases (What happens when the queue is full? When Redis goes down? ).
- Designing practical solutions under real-world constraints(time, budget, team size).
Communication:
- Writing clear technical documentation (ADRs, API docs, runbooks).
- Explaining complex systems simply (Can you explain connection pooling to a PM? ).
- Documenting architectural decisions with context and rationale.
- Code that communicates intent through naming and structure.
Engineering Judgment:
- Knowing when to optimise vs. when "good enough" is sufficient.
- Example: Choosing between 100ms vs 50ms latency based on user impact.
- Balancing technical debt with feature velocity.
- Understanding business priorities alongside technical excellence.
Quality and Collaboration:
- Designing testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E) that catch real bugs.
- Following security best practices (input validation, OWASP guidelines).
- Writing maintainable, convention-driven code that others can understand.
- Sharing knowledge through documentation, demos, and mentoring.
Experience Level:
- 2+ years with Node.js in production environments.
- Experience with high-volume systems (1000+ req/min preferred).
- E-commerce or logistics experience is a strong plus.
