A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition leads talent acquisition strategy and delivery for assigned U.S. businesses and employee populations while helping shape Valmont’s broader talent acquisition practices. As a leader within the Talent and Capability Center of Expertise, this role develops and advances common recruiting practices, tools, measures, and capabilities that can be leveraged across the organization. The Senior Manager partners with business, HR, and regional leaders to share best practices, strengthen recruiting effectiveness, and support appropriate consistency while recognizing local markets and business requirements. The role also supports select senior leadership, executive, and international searches in partnership with the Vice President, Talent and Capability.

Essential Functions:

  • Translate business strategy, growth plans, workforce forecasts and capability needs into an integrated talent acquisition strategy for U.S. professional, technical, manufacturing and operations talent, while also recruiting for select critical roles.
  • Lead the adoption of AI, automation, and emerging recruiting technologies to improve sourcing, screening, scheduling, and candidate experience.
  • Develop and advance common talent acquisition practices, tools, measures, and capabilities across Valmont, partnering with regional HR to share best practices and promote appropriate consistency.
  • Build a high-performing, inclusive team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and strong business partnership, balancing recruiting resources across businesses, functions, sites and talent segments as demand changes.
  • Partner with executives, functional leaders, plant and operations leaders, HR Business Partners, and regional HR teams to clarify demand, define success profiles and develop market-informed sourcing and selection strategies for U.S. and international markets.
  • Ensure disciplined intake, sourcing, assessment, selection, offer and onboarding handoffs while maintaining an efficient, equitable and engaging experience for candidates and hiring teams.
  • Manage external recruitment marketing and talent search partners when appropriate, ensuring quality, value, confidentiality and a consistent representation of Valmont’s employer brand.
  • Establish and monitor meaningful measures such as hiring plan attainment, time to fill, pipeline health, quality indicators, offer acceptance, hiring-manager satisfaction, candidate experience, source effectiveness and recruiter capacity.
  • Ensure recruiting activities comply with applicable employment laws, recordkeeping requirements, company policies and internal controls, and support fair and consistent selection practices.
  • Lead, coach and develop a multi-layered recruiting organization, including direct leadership of professional and technical Talent Acquisition Advisors and leadership of a Talent Acquisition Manager accountable for manufacturing and operations recruiting.
  • This position reports into the VP of Talent & Capability and has 4 direct reports and 4 indirect reports.
  • This role requires up to 20% travel, primarily domestic, including overnight stays.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, organizational leadership or a related field, or equivalent 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including leadership of recruiters supporting a complex, multi-site organization.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting professional and technical talent and leading recruiting delivery for manufacturing, operations or other frontline workforces.
  • Experience managing leaders or leading through a layered team structure, with a record of building capability and improving team performance.
  • Successful experience leading senior-leader or executive-level searches and advising senior executives throughout the process.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary sourcing, assessment, selection, offer and recruiting operations practices, supported by sound understanding of U.S. employment requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use recruiting data and labor-market intelligence to influence priorities, resource decisions and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support business locations, leadership meetings and critical hiring initiatives.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Talent acquisition leadership experience in a large, global engineering, industrial or manufacturing organization and influencing global talent acquisition practices across regions and locally managed recruiting teams.
  • Experience leading recruiting delivery for both steady-state professional and technical hiring and variable-volume or high-volume manufacturing recruitment across multiple U.S. markets.
  • Experience with a modern applicant tracking system and talent technology ecosystem, including strategies to leverage AI in recruitment practices; Workday Recruiting experience is advantageous.
  • Experience advancing workforce planning, employer branding, talent communities, recruiting process transformation or recruiting analytics.
