Marketing Associate Director, CF

Job Description

Vertex is seeking an experienced marketing professional to join our Canadian team to lead our Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Marketing team. The Associate Marketing Director, CF Marketing will be a core member of the Canadian CF business unit. This individual will help refine the strategy and execution of key marketing and sales initiatives. We are seeking a candidate with a strong track record in commercial roles, launching new products, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment. This role will report to the Director of CF Sales and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and refinement of the CF brand and business strategy for Canada, leveraging customer, market, competitive, and performance insights to identify opportunities, address barriers, and drive sustainable growth.
• Aligned to the commercial strategy, drive and optimize tactical execution of marketing and sales initiatives, including brand planning, territory business planning, managing agencies to ensure on-budget and timely deliverables, and partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders across training, commercial communications, and global teams.
• Partner on data and technology efforts to support product uptake, including CRM software and marketing automation tools, working closely with our data and technology teams (DTE, GIACO, DSS).
• Measure the impact of initiatives based on territory performance, ROI of key initiatives, and agilely pivot investments to maximize impact, while constantly looking for opportunities for automation and efficiency.
• Manage marketing OPEX to ensure optimal use of resources across branded and unbranded initiatives.
• Develop strong partnerships with cross-functional teams both locally and regionally to support business goals and collaborate beyond immediate scope, including close partnership with field, patient, disease education, and program counterparts.
• Role model and instill a culture of compliance focused on ethics and integrity in all we do.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals, including leading commercial teams and launching in rare diseases
• Experience developing communications, tactics and managing agency efforts

Required Skills

• Experience with HCP brand campaigns, tactical planning and execution, and insight generation, including in rare diseases
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and translate it into focused, actionable plans that drive business results
• Entrepreneurial spirit and courage to challenge the status quo to develop innovative and focused approaches to enable launch and execution through data and technology, regular measurement of results, and pivoting based on a test-and-learn strategy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with senior leaders as well as varied large audiences
• Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for pre- and post-approval activities and ability to model expected behavior for the team
• Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 20-30%
