Overview
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is an American biotechnology company that discovers, develops and sells medicines for serious diseases, best known for its cystic fibrosis modulators Trikafta, Kalydeco, Orkambi and Symdeko and the CRISPR-based gene-edited therapy Casgevy for sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia. Founded in 1989, it also markets the non-opioid pain medicine Journavx and has programmes in kidney disease, type 1 diabetes and pain, with research sites in Boston, San Diego and London. The company is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
